That's a very nice deal Nelgy and sends a warning to all providers that loyalty goes both ways.

Retentions are really not interested these days it's quite surprising. It's as if they don't want to keep customers. I called up to see what savings I could make or what deals they had. All they did was keep mentioning how bad sky was rather than selling themselves

No plans yet for this channel in UK.

Yes I do take it seriously. This forum isn't here for you just to post 'rumours' for a laugh, you have to give provenance or at least a bit of variation. Don't try Sky Movies to M+, that's been done already.
And you have the temerity to rolleyes at me!

So you think that posts regarding media reports are unacceptable on this thread, but posts alleging that channels are NOT coming are OK even though there is no source to back up that view?
Incredible way of thinking to my mind, but hey, ho.

OK. For the last time. And in the name of God. WHAT MEDIA REPORTS??? URL? Link? Provenance?
Try to understand that what you find incredible in your mind, is perfectly normal to everyone else.

It's pathetic really, and you still don't realise all this ire is entirely your own making.

Well, MJ, perhaps I was too optimistic on dates, and perhaps you can say that I read too much into it, but the media reports were certainly there, and a strong indication came through that a deal would be forthcoming. Everything was fitting together - Liberty's takeover of Virgin Media, the new talks with Sky, the new sense of realism we were told was in evidence, Sky's wish to get VM on board with their new Bravo channel, the recent co-operation between the two companies, etc, etc.
I am not too concerned to hear that dates mooted have slipped, we have already discussed the possible reasons for this.
I can assure you that I have no intention of bigging myself up, I was expressing my view on what would happen.
No doubt if I am proved wrong on this, you will feel very content with yourself. However, I have not yet conceded defeat, but will have no hesitation in doing so if the evidence suggests otherwise. That evidence is not there yet, only your opinion.

For God's sake OLD BOY, just direct people to the information that you've seen so that all this bickering can stop!

I'm sure you are capable of doing your own research, but Media Boy's reference to the Broadcast Now item has been out there on this forum for some time, to name one. There have been a number of articles in national newspapers and web sites.
Perhaps you take the view that if you haven't read them, they don't exist.
Let's just call a truce. I accept that you disbelieve what I have said about all of this. It'll all become clear soon enough.

sorry but in no way does:
1) Livberty takeover mean anything to acquiring SA
2) there was no report of any softening approach regarding SA barring talks that have continued since start up of the channel
3) The new channel ("Bravo") is a red herring and no reports of this suggest otherwise
4) co-operation in one area does not translate to co-operation of gaining new channels in another, all based on commercail decisions and giving SA to VM is not commercial sense (yet and aI define that as a very very long time if at all)
happy to be providing links to challenge the above that have been produced within a reasoned timeframe period.
I also put myself in the category of wanting the channel but being realistic, happy for postings but they must have some basis

Sky Atlantic
The only media reports I've read about Sky Atlantic potentially coming to Virgin Media were in Broadcast in an article dated 27 June 2013. If you Google "Virgin back in Sky Atlantic talks" you can read the article in full.
The article included the following
Quote:
Sources have indicated that the operators have now reopened negotiations and, although a deal is not imminent, they are significantly closer to agreeing a price for Sky Atlantic than they were two years ago. One source said a “degree of realism” had entered the talks.
|
http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/b...057814.article
This was before the BT Sport deal was done so possibly Virgin was considering Sky Atlantic and other channels as a Plan B if it did not agree a deal for BT Sport
I think the same Broadcast article was referred to again in September which reignited the speculation!

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014
Just to put my posts in context, this is the content of post 1329 dated 15 August 2013:
So glad BT Sport has finally arrived and all the doubts expressed by so many people have been put to rest. I am especially pleased to see the channels arrive in the XL pack (which I thought might happen but wasn't 100% sure) and with the HD channels as well. Good negotiating from VM there as BT would have been trying to extract a bit more for the HD channels.
As mentioned earlier, the next big thing will be Sky Atlantic. VM have been in negotiations with Sky over the extension to the Sky basics channels and Sky also want VM's agreement to take their new Sky Bravo channel. All of this, together with the recent Fibre deal done with Sky indicates that we should have a good negotiating scenario to acquire Sky Atlantic.
So it now seems to me that Sky Atlantic will appear on cable before Christmas, but to be honest it could be with us any time from now on.
For those of you who are interested in these things, the numbers for the new channels received today are:
529 ESPN
530 ESPN HD
547 BT Sport 1
548 BT Sport 2
549 BT Sport 1 HD
550 BT Sport 2 HD
Happy viewing everyone!
Clearly, Christmas didn't happen, but I have made it very clear that this was my opinion, not a confirmed fact. I really cannot see why some of you are getting in such a state about this.
I think the common consensus is that we should move on, and I am happy with that.

I don't have to do the research. You have to provide provenance.
This ridiculous reverse logic that we have no evidence to prove that it isn't coming isn't washing with anyone. Particularly in the light of the Sky advertising continually saying it's exclusive to them.
I can see no reason why people shouldn't discuss SA and the circumstances under which it might join VM, but your constant refusal to provide any provenance to your claims that you know it is 'coming soon' leads me to the obvious belief that you are trolling and deliberately trying to disrupt this thread.

Ridiculous. If you think I'm going to dredge up all the media reports on this, you've got another think coming. Let's move on.
