Nearly everyone has a DVD player.

I certainly have a DVD Player myself and it is not that old (two years) but it doesn't give me access to Netflix (at least through streaming).
I dare say the majority of the population is completely unaware that you can get DVD players that can do this, as was I, or are you referring to DVDs sent through the post?
As I said, if you mix predominently with people who have this equipment, I can understand your presumption that everyone has the technology, but the reality outside your circle is different.

That's your opinion, Dave, which I respect. But you don't have a source for that view.
Media reports I have seen indicate differently. I acknowledge that these reports may have been written with some speculation, but putting everything together....no, I can't say anything. Virgin Media Viewer may be watching

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014
To clear everything up this has come from 3 different sources Sky Atlantic will not be launching on any other platform in the near future. It will remain a Sky/NowTv exclusive as Sky want to push NowTV more.
Other Sky channels are expected to appear on other platforms.
Virgin Media wish to concentrate more on on demand content and providers and faster broadband speeds.
Again my sources might be wrong.

No, I wasn't referring to DVDs through the post, or indeed DVD players. I said you can inexpensively replace your DVD player with a Blueray player, which will also play DVDs and includes Netflix.
There may be DVD players that include Netflix, I don't know. But BR players are often as low as £50. And not only do you get Netflix with a BR player, you get the ability to watch films (and some TV shows) at the full 1080p potential of your HD TV.

It doesn't surprise me that Sky want to keep Atlantic for satellite and Now TV and won't let VM have it
And if Now TV included back seasons of Atlantic shows, it would be a valid option, but they don't. Who wants to start Boardwalk Empire at season 4 episode 9 without seeing the previous shows?
Thankfully as theone2k10 says, there are other options.

Sky Atlantic is still a legitimate topic as VM users want it. It is a glaring gap in a pay TV service that should provide the best in TV drama. Keeping this lack in the public view is no bad thing.

It's a legitimate topic (I want it too) but not for this thread, as this is the 'coming soon' thread, and it isn't.

You can't be certain of that. And when has this thread been limited only to what is actually coming soon? If that's all you are interested in, use the channel log thread.

The channel log is for what has arrived, not what's coming soon. Your argument that 'I can't be certain of that' is absurd. What if I post relentlessly (like these people are) about the Sky Movies bouquet becoming free to all on M+ and above? You can't be certain that I'm not right, so that's ok, is it?
Of course it's not. We've had a year of 'any minute now' regarding Sky Atlantic and this morning we get one of the biggest protagonists (who really should have learned their lesson by now) spouting the old 'it's coming, I know that, but I'm not going to tell you how' line again. As I write this an ad on Sky News is boasting about the exclusivity of SA to Sky / Now TV.
Let's just keep it real. <--- I know that sounds a bit like MB, but I put the words in the right order.

There is a difference between Sky Atlantic coming and your proposition (which you admit is silly).
Sky Atlantic could come if the terms are right and it is a channel that many people want. Occasionally rumours suggesting it might arrive (some with credibility) surface, so it is right that it is still mentioned in the Coming soon thread. If these posts upset you too much, just skip them.
