Window 8.1 isn't that bad, I just boot straight into desktop and have all my apps at the bottom of my screen's, don't bother with the metro start screen.

Microsoft have mainly used a 2 to 3 year gap between major OS releases, with the notable exception of XP. XP was released 1 year after Windows 2000 and 6 years before vista.

Yep, they did. From what I heard, after the security debacle that was Windows XP SP1, they improved their own security procedures massively, then used them to test (and secure) the code for XP SP2. This is why XP SP2 is *much* more secure than XP SP1.

They also, at the same time, effectively deleted the version of windows that was due to come after XP and started from scratch.
