Deactivating Parental Control
I've had a look through the posts and I can't find anything on here about this.
It's driving my wife and I round the bend. There is no one living in our house under 21 but we have to keep entering the pin number to watch recordings. We recorded Location,Location, Location last night it was on at 8pm, we had to enter pin to watch it.
Is there a way to deactivate the parental control?

From the VM support forum
Quote:
Help & Settings
Parental Control
Enter Pin
Request a PIN to Watch Recordings - Turn off
You will still be required to enter pin for some movies recorded from movie channels

Thanks for that. I just looked through the manual and there was nothing there. Teach me to just jump in and try from the menu

Re: Deactivating Parental Control
PINs can't be disabled completely as we live in a nanny state and might let kids watch stuff they shouldn't.

Re: Deactivating Parental Control
It is stupid that it can't be disabled though, my wife and I don't have kids and so have no need to use a PIN, but we're forced to because of the society we live in. PIN doesn't stop kids that much, when I was a kid and my dad first got Sky, I cracked his PIN in about 1 hour, it's not that hard to crack a 4 digit PIN. This makes it a rather flimsy security measure anyway.

Re: Deactivating Parental Control
Unfortunate, but under OFCOM rules it has to happen. And watch out for the "Nanny Filter" coming to your internet connection soon...!

By brute force? Do Sky boxes not lock you out after a few attempts?

Well I don't think that's something you can do with VM - pretty sure you have to pass account security to unlock your PIN, whether via the TV box, the automated phone system or with an agent.

I'd expect it to be an online setting, considering it already is for Virgin Mobile

When it was first announced about this 'adult block' being opt in Cameron said men would have to have an embarrassing conversation with their wives.
The next day on the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2 they discussed it.
They mostly had women phoning in saying how much they enjoyed watching porn.
I don't think the program went the way he wanted
