Correct. That's exactly what I'm saying. There was a thread about it in the BB forum, sadly it's recently been pruned.
In it, Ben (who robotically defends VM at all costs, no matter how ridiculous their actions) was busy explaining to me that because I had accepted a loyalty bonus, I was not entitled to speed doubling (30 to 60Mb). Above he now seems to be saying the opposite.
However, I am aware that this is not the right thread to take this any further. Just thought I'd clarify the point I'm making.

If it's the situation I think it is, then you will have been moved from XL 30 down to L 30, a cheaper tier, as part of the deal. Meaning you were then on one of the new tiers and wouldn't qualify for an automatic upgrade to 60Mbit, as you would have had to have remained on XL 30 to do so. It should have been made clear at the time this was the case, unfortunately it wasn't always, and I'm not defending anyone who didn't make it clear.
However anyone with a Loyalty bundle of any description got the appropriate speed upgrade for the tier they were on at the point of their area getting upgraded.

That's the one Ben. The upshot is, I was on 30Mb I was offered a loyalty bonus, I accepted it. Instead of giving me a loyalty bonus. VM staff moved me without my knowledge to a different L 30 tariff (that most people didn't know even existed) so I didn't get my speed doubled as a result.
Your second paragraph is a bit suspect. An offer to double customers speed if they wait (in my case 15 months from the first announcement) is an offer to double their speed. All I accepted was a loyalty discount. I didn't ask (or know) about my BB tier being changed. I was told I was getting the same product for a lower price so I accepted.
The con (because it certainly feels like one to me) has certainly worked for VM. They retained my custom during the time I was anticipating an upgrade. After they disappointed me, I even upgraded to 60Mb by paying the extra money for something I should be getting at no extra cost. I assume I am now on XL60, but who knows? VM might have invented another tariff such as Sucker60 for those they intend to con next time.

As I said, I'm not defending the situation - no-one should have been moved tiers without being told exactly what was happening, and what impact it would have for the announced changes.

You do, because it says on your bill what you are on. As you are now on XL 60, you will get an upgrade to 100Mbit as part of the next set of work.
This time around, there is no speed parity between one of the existing tiers and one of the new ones, so it will not be possible to drop a tier but remain on the same download speed

Hmm. I accept what you are saying Ben. But I'm suspicious of these 'coming in the near future' stunts that VM continually pull. It'd be easy to blind me with science, but why do we have to wait? Surely all necessary work was done last time? More likely it's a deliberate ploy to retain waverers.
I hope you'll understand why I view these announcements with suspicion. We've just waited a year for a TV Anywhere Android app, only to be presented with something that is nothing of the kind, it turns out to be a 'TiVo control app' which is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard to those of us who have no need or desire of a TiVo.
But despite all this, I'm actually a (reasonably) happy VM customer.

There has never been a speed upgrade that I can remember where everyone on the same tier got it at exactly the same time - there has always been a rollout schedule. Even if there is the capacity, it makes sense to spread out any customer service or technical calls, kit changes, and potential unplanned issues across a period of time.
The last upgrade and this 2014 one are the only two times where all tiers are getting a speed increase at the same time. However this one is due to finish in a shorter time-scale than the last one, so I would say yes, there was some groundwork laid for the 2014 upgrades.

I'm not sure why you were suprised about what it is - the iOS app has been around for a while now, and it's exactly the same.

-KissFresh (On Freeview across the UK.)
-Heat Radio (On Freeview across the UK.)
-The Hits Radio (On Freeview across the UK.)

I'm surprised because it was touted as a 'TV Anywhere' app, not as a TiVo controller app. I can get TV Anywhere on other platforms without a TiVo so it's logical to expect (it really is Ben) the 'TV Anywhere' app for Android (or iOS for that matter) to work without a TiVo. Otherwise it should be renamed to 'TiVo remote' or something that helps indicate it's reliance on a particular STB.
It could do with renaming anyway, have you seen the reviews on Google Play? They stink...
