Back in March Frank Warren suggested Boxnation HD would launch in about 6 months time. I was really holding out hope if would be on the air by the end of 2013. At the start of November the story about Boxnations parent company Media Nation being floated on AIM broke reporting:
"SPORTS PROMOTER Frank Warren plans to float Box Nation, the cable television station devoted to boxing that he set up two years ago. Nation Media, the channel’s parent company, hopes to raise about £5m from an AIM listing to fund expansion overseas, buy the rights to more events and create a high-definition version of the station. It is run by Richard Brooke, who was finance director at BSkyB."
The suggestion they need to raise funds in order to launch a HD version of the channel suggested to me it's going to be a while yet before the channel gets off the ground. I'm sure the new revised plan is first quarter of 2014 if the float goes as planned. I'm not sure if that is a realistic target after the article on the BBC website today:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-25298109
" It's said that launching a channel takes at least six months. We will have managed to launch five channels in five months. So I want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to the brilliant team of dedicated professionals, across the BBC, our suppliers and our platform partners, who have been pulling out all the stops to achieve this for our audiences."
Of course not linked to Boxnation in anyway but an interesting bit of info.

Remember this article from a few months back?
http://www.theguardian.com/media/201...nnel-itv4-dave
About a month before this article I had been involved in a couple of marketing / feedback sessions regarding a new male orientated channel that SKY where considering launching. One of the names brought up in the session was SKY Bravo. When the Guardian carried the story I thought the cat was out the bag and expected to hear more about the channel. Since then nothing. I've sent the odd e-mail back and fourth to guys involved with the original feedback session and heard nothing, until today.
The Guardian have not got their facts correct at all. A combination of leaked information from SKY’s marketing session bunched together with some coincidental circumstances is the whole basis for their article.
The article suggests SKY registered the name SKY Bravo on 20th June 2013. SKY has not registered the name SKY Bravo at all. On the 20th June they actually applied to change the name of Bravo and Bravo 2 to SKY 1 and SKY 2 in the Republic of Ireland.

There is no delay for a new carriage deal between SKY and Virgin Media, due to SKY Bravo, as plans to launch the channel are firmly on ice.

For the optimist and theorists who we're hoping sky Atlantic, and missing HD variants were coming due to some idea Sky Bravo was being negotiated please look away now.....
Thanks Chad for sharing BTW

Not to rub it in but for the avoidance of doubt there is another thing that needs to be clarified.
The following version of the article states "Sky has paved the way for resurrecting one of the former Virgin Media TV brands by registering Sky Bravo as a trademark."
http://www.tvforum.co.uk/tvhome/brav...92/#post884759
Again SKY has done no such thing:

Why is BBC News HD not launching on channel 603? when it's available to everyone. Why give slot 603 to a channel which MAYBE launching soon (Sky News HD?) on VM? doesn't make sense. Thought I'd ask as there is little else going on. Any theories?

Couple of people should be pretty red-faced (one of them speaking in a boring Star Wars style) tonight...

Ah right, the way it was written suggested to me that it was only broadcasting on certain parts of the VM network! I thought it looked odd, thanks for clearing that up

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 6.
On the EPG for BBC news HD its confusing as both say BBC news the HD one says the same no HD in its wording until you tune to it.
Also says 8:30 start
