So you regard media reports as 'pure speculation'? You would rather listen to imaginary 'insiders'? I think there's more evidence for the existence of fairies.
And no, I don't believe in them either!

Who knows what is happening with SKY Bravo. I first took part in a focus group for the channel back on the 1st July. The session I participated in was just giving a flavour of what the channel would be, the type of programs they planned to show, what programs we'd like to see and a list of 10 names to vote from. We voted and SKY Bravo was the unanimous decision for the name of the new proposed channel. I actually voted for SKY Energize because I was told it was going to be a male hybrid entertainment channel which would not only show American muscle shows for blokes but would also featured sport and fitness.
A month later SKY registered the name and said they'd get back for further research. Since then all things SKY Bravo have died a death. No mention at all. I keep on bringing it up with the guys who run the group but nothing is said. The only thing I've heard, from another member of the group is the channel might not launch or won't launch until the end of 2014.
If it's SKY Bravo that's holding up the launch of SKY Atlantic on Virgin Media, it could be a while yet.

From memory, Chad, I think there was a Broadcast Now report in September, but maybe it was a little earlier.
I don't think a delayed channel launch for Sky Bravo would necessarily delay the launch of the missing Sky channels as well. All they need is a signed contract.
As I said earlier, I have no idea what is going on in the background, but this is all taking longer than I expected. Having said that, it took ages to launch Netflix from when we received the heads up that it was coming, but that did involve technological issues as well.
I have also been wondering whether Sky wanted to milk Now TV for a few months before releasing these channels. Let's hope we get some positive news soon. It's not a case of if, but when now.

I would say much of what's in the media is pure speculation , wasn't it the media who claimed Al Jazeera Sports would nab some of the UK premier league rights , wasn't Ronaldo on his way back to Old Trafford you catch my drift.

For most people on here, the insiders are to be believed without question!

Agreed, but there's the media and the media. Broadcast Now, for example, are a respected media organisation and I have no reason to doubt their reports on this.
Had I read this in the Daily Express, I would not have given it the time of day! They were still going on about the Princess Diana conspiracy earlier this year, day after day! You have to pick and choose what you are prepared to believe.

And there is the problem, many people here will believe any old bull spun to them by so called insiders... when it's no more trustworthy than hearing it from some random bloke down the pub.

I was a believer until some really big howlers last year. The ITV HD channels not launching in September 2012, after a couple of months of strong speculation, was the one that finally made me jump off the rumor mill. That incident made me really weary of what gets posted here. Sure some stuff turns out to be true however I'm always suspicious of potential channel launches if no source or proof is provided, or it's all done on a nudge nudge wink wink basis. That's why if I hear something directly from a Virgin or SKY employee regarding channels I'm more inclined to believe them, even if they are bending the truth or don't know all the facts. At least they are employed by the relative companies and are likely to have more knowledge than some of the random posters who turn up here.

I can understand HBO selling their content to Netflix, in an attempt to broaden the potential viewing audience of their programming, however are Netflix prepared to match or better the £30 million per year that SKY pay?
Also there has been another interesting turn of events in regards to HBO shows shown exclusively on SKY Atlantic. We all know that SKY love to advertise their channels and programming to death across all of their own branded channels. Whilst this might not have significantly driven up their own new customer numbers wanting access to SKY Atlantic, it's believed it has actually helped drive up the sales of HBO DVD boxsets released in the UK. Once I find the link I'll post it but there was an article that suggested Games Of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire reached number 1 in the DVD sales charts pertly due to SKY's advertising of the shows. HBO aren't going to get that kind of exposure having their shows tucked away on Netflix.
I have both Netflix and SKY so I'm not really fussed who shows the content. As long as I continue to get access then I'm satisfied.

No-one really knows who'll be prepared to pay for what tbh. I have both Sky and Virgin with Netflix and i can honestly say i've never watched anything on Sky Atlantic. I will next month ofcourse when game of thrones returns but to me Sky Atlantic just doesn't live up to its hype. It's not a bad channel by all means.

The thing I've noticed since joining SKY is SKY themselves are no longer hyping the channel up as such. It's mainly people who don't have access to the channel that seem to hold it in high regard.
I'm a fan of Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, The Borgias, The Following and Hello Ladies. I'm looking forward to Fleming and True Detective whilst my wife is looking forward to Penny Dreadful.
I don't actually watch SKY Atlantic live. I tend to record everything so I can skip the adverts, or watch the programs via SKY catch up. I can say in all honesty I watch more programming from SKY Atlantic than I do from channels like ITV or SKY Living.

There is no doubt Sky Atlantic will arrive and sooner then the doomsayers think but if you look on Amazon you can pick the some of the series DVD's at a very reasonable price.
