if only i had a sense of humour :sigh.
Anyway back on topic Horizon box has indeed been mentioned but i believe the Tivo contract still has some way to go so that may all change.
Talks of a 3tb box are still circulation as are the Sky channels launching before Christmas. Regarding the Sky channels if they launch this year i'd expect them on the 10th December along with the bbchd channels. If they don't come by then i think it's safe to say they won'y be here until 2014.
My christmas and price rise comments were meant in just humour and were tongue in cheek comments. Sorry if they've annoyed anyone.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 6.
Like many, I've been eagerly awaiting sky Atlantic. However I have recently cancelled movies a sport to reduce bill ( sport easy to drop as I'm a rugby fan and BT have premiership covered)
With the money saved I have purchased Now TV with entertainment and movies.
I now have sky Atlantic and movies and I'm paying aprox £30 per calender month.
I'll be pleased if sky Atlantic does come, but I'm no longer desperate NowTV works fine as a stop gap solution.

Sorry,
That was meant to be £30 per month less

Some of the current special offers aren't that special when you break them down. Not saying they aren't worth having, just that people need to be certain they're worthwhile before they recontract.

I was once told by a CS rep, that half price deals were pointless. All "losses" incurred were re-gained and profited upon within the contracted period. TBF, they probably are, but I would happily save vast sums of money over 6/12 months and pay "more" over a shorter period time, before changing suppliers to get a similar deal.
VM and Sky probably do not really care about churn if the info the CS rep told me is true (but the "churn" figures make for "good" reading in annual reports thus making it seem like a big deal, when it is not), as they make a profit on short term contracts and people who chop and change suppliers. Consumers are also happy to change suppliers as they do save large lumps of money over a reasonably short period of time.
It makes sense for people to change suppliers all the time. It helps all involved, the businesses make a profit on a 12/18 month contract and the consumer gets some save some serious amounts of money over a 6/12 month period of time on a promotional discount.

Old Boy, you are not helping yourself. You have been challenged many times to prove your sources regarding your certainty of Sky Atlantic and/or missing Sky channels launching soon. When challenged, you have said you get inside information like many other posters.
If you get inside info and you are certain SA and/or missing Sky channels are coming soon, why ask this question?
You appear to have dug yourself into a hole here :-/

With regards Horizon, how long was the Netflix deal signed for?
Would the Horizon box allow apps?
If not, does the Netflix deal effectively extend the TIVO contract with VM?
I imagine the answers to these questions are company sensitive, but if not can some more intelligent/enlightened let me know?

Can't find the link now, but read at the time that Netflix said they signed the Virgin deal before the Liberty takeover, but were working towards an Horizon app. I can't imagine Virgin would ever be able to launch Horizon without Netflix having made such a fuss about it launching on TiVo. Who would give up their TiVo box in those circumstances?

Apart from sky channels being withheld and no concrete evidence they will be here anytime soon (SA and missing sports HD), MGM and foreign channels that most people would consider niche there isn't actually a lot more to "come soon to Virgin" mate so not sure what your are expecting from this thread.
As it's a discussion forum you expecting people to just hang around and not say anything would be a bit weird. I haven't said much (I said my peace a while back regarding foreign and skysports HD) but I still "listen" and read the current discussion whether I agree or not I still respect all opinions

Agree totally, would be nice for VM mop up as many missing HD variant channels (SKY permitting) in 2014 without breaking the bank!

Sky Movies Drama and Romance became Sky Movies XMAS, but I think it's the same stream. Possibly BBC HD tests are starting this week.
