Gigaclear & Hyperoptic are still the fastest broadband in UK.

There was also the price drop those on 100Mbit got in addition to the 100 > 120 increase.
http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2012/01/vir...eed-increases/
Which none of the other tiers got.

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014
The ispreview had now saying "Generally Virgin says that their existing broadband customers should expect to receive a download boost of “at least 20Mbps“. But uploads will not be improved and you’ll have to sign-up to a new 12 month contract in order to benefit."
So, 152Mb will get the same upload on 12Mb. Pretty pointless to upgrade.

There is nothing in it to say that the 'no increase to uploads' has come from VM directly http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php...s-package.html
If/what is happening to uploads hasn't been confirmed yet

Oh and in addition to the lowest speed increase they (50 & 100) also got the addition of STM, which none of the other tiers got (cause they already had it, whereas 50/100 were exempt). So in fact minimum regulated speeds, at peak times, went from:
2.5 (10 STM'd) => 43 (17x increase)
5.0 (20 STM'd) => 86 (17x increase)
50 => 129 (2.5x increase)
100 => 129 (1.3x increase, and price drop to match 50)
Which makes the top tier look like they're getting ripped off even worse!

Nobody was ripped off by VM. The mega-downloaders would have ripped me off had they not been STMd.

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014
So I suppose top tier 152MB config speeds could be as follows?
Download Speed: 160000000 bps - 152.58 Mbps
Upload Speed: 15000000 bps - 14.30Mbps
And if they are required to spend another 12 months on upgrades that just tells me they will probably gonna have to add max available download channels to 8 and upload to 4.
Just speculating...

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014
Upload will not be including as part of new 152Mb say Virgin Media: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...nd/m-p/2060120
What about upload speeds? Will these increase too?
The boost is for download speeds only for now.

absolutely, I am very interested to see what sort of speed I get on my vmng300. I can't see them getting away with not increasing the upload speed, they'll be ripped to pieces for it given the current ratios other isps are advertising. I cant see them maxing 4 upstream channels available just yet given that it has taken them yonks to make two available and they are still rolling the speed increases out to the lower tiers.

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014
No upload increase is a bit of a joke especially for 120mb customers. The difference between 15MB/s and 18MB/s will hardly be noticable and will mean nothing to most people yet any increase on the upload would have considering it's already so low.
