Re: Two electric meters

Now here is the weird one.

My online account has been activated today. The serial number on the white meter matches what my supplier has. I have not given them this.

Re: Two electric meters

As a safeguard against having a mega electric bill, have you made a note of meter readings.
Given that you have a meter capable of reading an 'off peak tariff', and a reading of a normal 'day time tariff'. Plus total of units used.

We have an Economy 7 meter. It's not just for central heating; it simply charges less for off-peak electricity. We set the dishwasher and tumble dryer to start at 11:30 pm, for example.

Re: Two electric meters

If your supplier has given you the meter number of the white meter, that is the one that they will be billing you against.

It is possible that a previous tenant had a prepayment meter installed inside the flat. The old credit meter could have been left outside, so the meters could be connected in series. You can check this by checking what consumption is recorded by both meters (if they are in series they will be the same).

I wouldn't worry too much about the black one, but give your supplier a call and give them the serial number if you're concerned, they will be able to see what property and supplier it is registered to.
