I know Sky like their USP but they also need a challenge. Business' collapse when they rule the roost because they don't have anyone in their way.
If Sky and VM had the same channels it would be better for the consumer and would allow Sky to challenge VM in other areas like Broadband, Phone, Companion facilities.

Dave, were you not saying something similar about the BT Sport channels? Things have changed, but if you don't believe me, just watch this space!

Yes Dave is such a pessimist at times.

Soon SKY's USP will be a bucket lid on your house
It's not all bad though. I have befriended a pigeon who likes to sit on it ever now and then.

As far I know Channel 5 want to sign deals with Sky and Virgin Media before confirming launch date - rumours on an other web site says 5 Later may launch in November on Freeview when Top Up TV closes.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 4.
If said 18 channels do arrive, is anyone else wondering where this money has been found?
Did Berkett keep it in his desk drawer in case of emergencys and Mockridge has just stumbled upon it?

Or Virgin are just moving some of the money they use to pay bank loans to get more channels?

There is a rumour going round on Digital Spy that XL is going up £3 in November.

I'm not sure if I believe this at all. Seems like nothing more than crude maths by someone trying to wind up Virgin Media customers.
Various articles reported Virgin have 2 million XL customers with Virgin paying BT £75 million per year for BT Sports. 2 million XL customers x £3 per month = £6 million x 12 months = £72 million. Essentially someone is trying to make out that Virgin customers are footing the bill for BT Sports being added.
Let's wait and see if a price increase actually happens. I can't see it.

Indeed, I would have thought that they would want to arrange carriage on all platforms. It's just strange that there hasn't been a press release, when it is obvious that the channel will launch at some point. The licence has been issued by Ofcom and the placeholder caption has been added to Freeview.
I've read the rumours on other web sites about TUTV closing in November, it is just speculation at present as TUTV hasn't indicated that it will actually be closing at all. In any event, that announcement would be commercially sensitive. If the channel doesn't intend to launch until November, it's a little early to have added the caption.
Whether TUTV closes or not, I wouldn't think that BT Sport plans to run the promo loop on Freeview indefinitely. As soon as the promo loop disappears, the space will become available to Channel 5. That's the unknown factor at the moment, how long BT Sport has contracted to use the promo slot.
