Superhub Getting decent wifi signal

Hi,

I'm a 60Mb customer with an SH1 and the corresponding rubbish wifi signal strength. I've lived with it, but we're getting more wireless devices in the house now and it's just nonsense that we only get good signal in 1 or 2 rooms - my son can't even stream YouTube from the room next to where the SH is.

I have no other issues with the SH1, and from what I've read the SH2 is basically an SH1 but with good wifi range. Is there a way to get VM to just pop one of those in the post for me? I'm a long standing customer and am out of contract at the moment, though do have a (now very small) retentions discount from some time back.

Or am I going to have to spend some money to solve this problem, either by paying for an SH2 that I will never own, or by buying a decent separate router?

Do the sensible thing and buy your own router.

Officially, you can pay Virgin I think £50 to get a SH2, but it's not worth doing that because you'd be better off spending that £50 on a decent router of your own.

That being said, if you call up retentions and tell them your wireless is terrible, they MAY give you the SH2 for free. So try that and see how it goes.

In short: SH2 for free IF you can (But don't bank on it), a decent router if you can't.

Absolutely right. Do it - a whole world pf router functionality opens up for you that the SH2 doesn't have.

yeah dude, although shub2 will fix your wi-fi problems there are still lots of other things you can't do. I would argue one of the best things you can do for youself (which all 3rd party routers will let you do) is change your dns servers so you don't have to use VM's. You might not know what they are or what they do but it doesnt matter, it is an easy thing to do and you'll be better off for it afterwards.

I echo the advice above in trying to get a shub2 for free otherwise I would go for this:
