That was boring. Has defending returned to the Premier League? If so I don't like it.

I really can't figure out what Arsene can see in Cabaye. Brilliant introduction to English Football followed up by a less than average 40 games. It's not just Cabaye either though because Ben Arfa is often touted to be much better than he actually is. He's inconsistent and so overrated its a joke. Run run run and out of play...repeat for 90 minutes. They seem to be handing out the world class title to about anyone these days.

Defending can make a return to Newcastle anytime.

I think Moyes wants to write the rule book according to him.
Penalty every 30 minutes for man Utd.
Opposition has a player sent off by halftime if Man utd haven't scored 5 goals by then, and another player sent off for every 10 minutes after that. When it is down to just goalkeeper (See rule 36 re Moyes time, extending the game until Man Utd score 2 goals more than opposition) then it goes to penalties, keeper must play with one leg tied up.
Probably more I could think of

Tactically and defensively it was excellent.

Didn't see the United penalty shouts, but was pleased Cole got nothing. He went on for another 2 or 3 steps before going down. I'm shocked he wasn't booked for diving.

Cabaye offers something different from midfield. He has a bit of bite to his game and is able to shoot, something we haven't got. we're also short on numbers and he looks a decent shout tbh. I haven't followed Newcastle to comment on consistency, is it a case of him not being able to carry the team week in week out? do you reckon he'd be a different player at Arsenal because of the quality around him? Pardew cannot call Cabaye world class at this moment in time, the transfer is a somewhat gamble. it reminds me a little of the Arteta transfer. Arteta wasnt always world class for Everton but you knew he had quality.

Arsenal could indeed make him look a better player but Wenger needs to get him playing more good games than bad ones. We seem to get stuck with one good game in 20 from him. If Arsenal are going to pay £20 million for him then it's one of the worst transfers of the summer but around the £12 million mark for a player that becomes as good as his first season then you have one of the best signings of the summer.
The actual problem now is getting Yohan Cabaye out of Newcastle for less than £20 million, papers claim Cabaye will force his way out and force Ashley to lower the asking price by refusing to play, they're so wrong. Mike Ashley will let Cabaye rot in the reserves before he's made a fool of and continue to fine him. Cabaye should have known better than to play Mike Ashley.
On topic of this I'd like to thank Carlos Tevez for paving the way for players to do what they fancy when they want to move elsewhere, real professionalism by Carlos. Cabaye and now Bale seemingly.

If rotting in the reserves is Ashley's plan who'll look the bigger fool when he leaves on a free at the end of the season.

Cabaye when he realizes his contract still has 2 years left to run at that point.
Quote:
Cabaye’s behaviour does not paint him in a favourable light as he has effectively gone on strike at St James’ Park in the hope he can bully the club into selling him.
It is not a tactic that is likely to work with owner Mike Ashley adamant he will not sell for less than the £20 million he quoted Arsenal when rejecting their opening bid of £10.2 million last week.
That could leave Cabaye in an extremely awkward position. Newcastle fans can forgive a lot, but disloyalty and a lack of effort to the cause are cardinal sins, and the player must hope Arsenal want him enough to meet Newcastle’s terms for a transfer or beg for forgiveness.
Newcastle have two important factors in their favour. The three years remaining on Cabaye’s contract and the fact the former Lille star wants to play for France in next summer’s World Cup and cannot afford to be ostracised from his club for any length of time.
“If Arsenal want to sign the player they’re going to need to sign him soon because at some point we’re just going to say no,” Pardew said. “That’s a position we’ll get to in a couple of days unless something gets resolved.
|
Factor in his desire for wanting to play in next year's world cup and that's checkmate for Mike again. Cabaye has 2 options, apologize to Newcastle and the fans or pray Arsenal will pay up.
This is the story of a football club being ridden to hell, we don't like it and there's nothing we can do about it except sit back and watch the whole thing burn to the ground, welcome to Newcastle United, the most dysfunctional club in England.
Cabaye brought this upon himself, Don't get me wrong, if Arsenal suddenly bid for me I'd want to get away from the fire asap but the way he's went about it has been terrible. Representatives were apparently in London last night to discuss a £16 million deal, take that with a pinch of salt though. Papers say £20 million then £16 million but the only man in the country that knows anything (Mike Ashley) never says a word..

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window
Adz I think TD meant by throwing Cabaye in the reserves he'll have the right to get out of his contract at the end of the season.
on WC2014. Cabaye will have chances to impress during friendlies. Cabaye does have options but he will have to stay strong if he wants to take this path.
