Arrow where can i buy a DOCSIS 3.0 modem in the uk

hey i want to buy a modem to replace my superhub2 as i hate the thing with a passion. i will then connect the modem to my own router. i've looked about online and i believe i will need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem to achieve the full 60mbs connection.

where can i buy one that will work and also will this work with a virgin media 60mbs connection?

if not is there something else i can buy to completely replace the superhub?

thanks

You can't as Virgin only allow their equipment on the network. Why don't you just put the Superhub in Modem mode and use what router you chose, then the Superhub will just be a modem.

because ive had problems with my own router working with the superhub in modem mode. i was hoping there was a way out of this superhub business

time to invest in a new router then and pray it works with the superhub.

There's no way out of the Superhub I'm afraid, modem mode is just that

Superhub in modem mode is always fine. Any problems, apart from a defective SH, will be with the router.

ASUS RT-N66U is the consensus router of choice on this forum.

so you'll buy a replacement but not a replacement router when it is a good chance that it is the router which is at fault? You don't need to shell out £100 on a router, something like this is also awesome (the consensus router of choice for General Maximus )

Perhaps you could detail the issues you're actually having and what router you're using? Might be a simple issue we can fix rather than buying anything.

Sometimes it's like extracting hen's teeth, if you can find them, on any forum Kush.

Re: where can i buy a DOCSIS 3.0 modem in the uk

I have the n56u and never had a problem with modem mode. I once bought a getnet router what a load of crap but I did only pay £12 for it. you get what you pay for my N56U at the time was £95 but I think the N66U that is that price now

Re: where can i buy a DOCSIS 3.0 modem in the uk

heres the thread where i posted what the issues were. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12...e-problem.html

anyway ive now bought a asus RT-N56U, hopefully this router will solve the problem otherwise i will have to assume that i have a defective superhub.

unless you can think of any other reason i might be having these problems

So why didn't you continue in your original thread where others could see your problem from the start rather than starting another thread which has led you nowhere better.

You're asking for logic from a guy who just assumes he has a defective Superhub at the drop of a hat with no actual evidence.

Re: where can i buy a DOCSIS 3.0 modem in the uk

I can't see a problem with the OP starting a new thread. He asked a different question here, moving from a new router to a new modem. It's just that the topic has swung back round to the router - quite sensibly.
