If they do add it (and it has been mentioned several times as a possibility by VM management) they would add the UK Netflix.

Which is why it is not a big deal to me as you wouldn't be able to use Unblockus on the Tivo Netflix app.

But any added value OTT service added to Tivo is a plus in my view, so I hope they add it.

There have been rumours that it could be included in the price; but they are just rumours (one source being a market survey). That would be a first for Netflix to do such a deal, so seems unlikely; but so did free BT sport, so you never know. It would add to Tivo, free or not.

I'd rather have LoveFilm instant, it has far more content

But only stereo sound; not 5.1 audio.

I think the Netflix catalogue has grown quite a bit since they first launched. I had Lovefilm a few months back and found more I was interested in on Netflix UK than I did on Lovefilm. But why not add them both?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 4.

My Smart TV has Lovefilm, Netflix and Blinkbox. It would be great for Virgin to add such services to TiVo however you've got to ask, what is in it for Virgin and would it be worth their while? Virgin already have their own movie on demand service. Adding something like Lovefilm or Netflix to TiVo would just be extra competition for their own service.

It was reported last week that in Netflix have 1.5 million customers in the UK and Ireland:

http://www.worldtvpc.com/blog/netfli...e-of-lovefilm/

So of a reach of 67.5 million people, 1.5 million have signed up for Netflix which is roughly 2.2% of the population. 1.8 million people have TiVo. If the take up rate of 2.2% carried over to TiVo customers, that equates to 39,600 customers taking the service.

I accept there is flaws looking at the figures in this way however it helps build a picture why Netflix and Lovefilm might not be worth Virgins time.

To be fair the service has only been launched just over 18 months so I'd say those figures are pretty good.

I agree however are the figures big enough to justify Virgin adding the service?

Not sure how it would work but seeing Virgins platform is closed, would Virgin have to pay Netflix to add them to the TiVo platform?

Got both and personally lovefilm is pretty poor compared to Netflix and of course with unblock us gives you access to us and Canada

Not really VM's movie service is mainly for newer films. Most of the ones on Netflix are older ones, though they do have some recent ones. Also most of the Netflix viewing is TV shows and VM don't sell those via On demand.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 4.

A good idea for Virgin would be to offer something like Virgin movies for a small fee each month say £5p/m ok we wont get latest blockbusters but it'd be nice to have that option and would probably be much better than Picturebox.
As for Netflix it is leaps and bounds ahead of Lovefilm if you use a VPN but if using uk only services then agreed Lovefilm is better.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 4.

Netflix wouldn't challenge Virgin Movies as VM Movies is a PPV service.

As theone2K10 pointed out, a rival service of Virgin Movies at a subscription would be hard, the rights are snapped up as exclusives in this market between Netflix/LoveFilm/Sky Movies, the easiest and cheapest way to do this would be to team up with one of these guys!

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 4.

Virgin Movies would get the movies 12 months before Netflix/Lovefilm, so I'm not sure that the latter 2 would be a threat.

And as a heavy user of Netflix/Lovefilm, I would add both, but given VM's habit of taking forever to do stuff (Almost 3 years for Android TVA App; more channels for MRS; upgrading to TiVo software released stateside in October), I'm not holding my breath.

People forget that Sky uses an open satalite astra that other companies use in europe.
Apart from its own channels, the rest are only there because other television companies use the same satalite so little negotiating requried only payment for the channel number is required for most of those channels. so it requires alot more neogiating onto a closed system that an open system.
