I've been referring to this magazine in my past few posts. My point is (and I repeat, I really want BT Sports on VM) this is clearly an attempt by VM to gloss over the loss of the extra EPL games. It must have cost them a small fortune. Why waste that money if good news was just around the corner?

Because it was advertising to customers to add BT Sport and how to do it? It wasn't in testing.

Also someone can probably explain, how come in BT Sports adverts they say that Sky Sports have less games this year and then Sky Sports say they have more games than ever before in theirs? Surely that contradicts itself.

SKY are are correct to say they have more premier league games they have one extra game this year it's 116. This is from last year's first fixtures release.
Quote:
|
These fixtures are the first of 115 live Premier League matches that Sky Sports will show during the 2012-13 season, with every match available in HD with many in 3D. Sky Sports viewers will also enjoy over 129 live UEFA Champions League matches, 75 live games from across all three npower Football League divisions, Capital One Cup fixtures and international fixtures.
|
This year is the start of the new premier league packages which has an extra package and the old packages had the amount of games changed.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 4.
indeed. it is perfectly possible for sky to have more game(s), but still have less % of the total number of televised matches. "less matches" in this context. lots of clever use of wording flying round in the BT/Sky battle. and lots of incorrect cringe-worthy wording from Virgin ie "get more from sport with Virgin". Having said that, if they get BT Sport it'll be miles better than having BT Sport on sky due to how Virgin's multiroom works.

The entertainment channels are launching on Now TV that's definate they could quite easily add all the current Sky channels and add any exclusive channels at a later date , I can't really see thats an issue.

Which they'd have to apply for and get , again I can't see its a problem.

Perhaps the funding was arranged for a fixed period, as with the fees for appearing on the Sky EPG. Although Radio Caroline is still available FTA on satellite it isn't in the Freesat EPG and is no longer available on the Sky EPG.
The carriage arrangements on cable in Ireland could have been a legacy arrangement, considering that Ronan O'Rahilly, the founder of Radio Caroline is actually Irish. Speculation, I know, but things are often done in less conventional ways in Ireland.

Yes, barker channels are different to test transmissions. Sky are very strict about removing channels from the EPG that have problems eg only showing a testcard.
Having said that, when I was with Sky many years ago, I was shocked at the unwatchable quality of some of the african channels. The picture was all over the place!
I would have thought that all platforms would have had a minimum broadcast quality threshold.

The consumer would need a TV License, not Now TV needing one.

The updated version seems to have removed Sky Sports News HD from being "not included'. Sky Sports F1 HD does not seem to be listed in either...

I added some channels to my list early this year to stop posters from asking why is 'Channel Z' on UPC Ireland and not on Virgin Media. Plus just to tell everyone what not broadcasting in all areas yet.
