And Virgin are not in total control over what they charge for SKY Sports. SKY put their prices up, so Virgin have to pass it on.

I ain't going to jump the gun just yet, but I can't see VM adding anything special that will keep me with them.

I am aware of that, but it is up to the customer who they choose. Why would people pay extra for something that is much cheaper elsewhere?
It doesn't make sense.

Hopefully you are wrong bud,I have just priced up a package online for a friend at work VIP 12 months half price and spoke to an advisor on live chat I explained i am already a vm customer and mentioned its a shame that bt sports isn't replacing espn in xl pack and is reply was that he cant discuss the bt sports situation at the minute but customers could soon be pleasantly surprised.Make what you will from that maybe nothing but until we hear or see any anouncement we got to keep are fingers crossed I personally think it will be included in the VIP pack as a compromise rather than xl

I would be surprised if it wasn't a standalone package, but either way; I have BT Infinity.

No they don't, it is entirely up to VM whether they pass the increase on or absorb it.

Not necessarily. I would expect that there's a clause in the contract that limits the price flexibility VM can offer so that Sky's own Premium prices to its customers isn't undercut.
Also, VM isn't really in a position to make serious losses on the services it provides - even under the new ownership the pockets aren't deep.

I agree with Nialli - VM will always be the same, or higher, than Skys prices for their channels; its just simple economics
