You will also find that VM do make money from Sky's channels but it makes the larger chunk of its profits from broadband and line rental and also services like Tivo. Don't get me wrong VM does not provide Sky's channels to VM customers out of the goodness of its heart.
I am not looking for a bashing, a bashing is not what I will get. I had information that I thought I would share with you, as an impasse had arisen.

Sorry Bomber, I meant that comment in a light hearted manner. I appreciate you giving us the info:-)

I see Drama has launched on Freeview, quite surprised it hasn't on VM.

I would like Virgin to maybe focus on developing a dynamic EPG. It's a joke that SKY can have one but Virgin can't. Surely a TiVo box would be able to handle a dynamic EPG.

Yes it would be nice to have a dynamic EPG but remember the TiVo has many more strengths that the other STB's can only dream about.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.
Has MediaBoy said anything about BT and Atlantic since BomberAF posted Haven't noticed him since Bomber's exclusive . Is BomberAF actually MB working undercover? Has Bomber kidnapped MB and is pumping him for information??? If BT and Atlantic don't launch in VM on 1st August will we be forming a posse and burning BomberAF???? If we don't hear from MB soon someone should contact the authorities, or has he just gone on his holidays?

MB put something that he has exclusive news about a broadcaster on Virgin that he cant announce yet the other day...
If BT and Atlantic dont arrive on the 1st im sure BomberAF will have to go into hiding!

No, Horse and Country and Pop Girl are the most likely to arrive, but for POP Girl a deal would have to be done with CSC Media, there are a lot of channels they have that VM dont. (see MBs Own By)
Disney and MGM have a little coup with Sky, so they may not arrive soon. MGM/BSkyB dont have have any channels on VM at the moment, however the carriage agreement for Disney etc will have to come for an agreement to be made for the Disney HD Channels

I agree. VM seem very stubborn about not providing such a basic function. Thankfully Freeview also provides a dynamic EPG.

I am happy to have a DEPG, providing there is the ability to turn it off. DEPGs have advantages, but also some drawbacks.
I could be mistaken, but I thought there was a post on the VM Tivo forums that suggested that if VM did introduce a DEPG to Tivo, you would not be able to disable it. I wouldn't be happy with that.

Oh yes I agree the TiVo has strengths that SKY don't have on their SKY+ boxes. However, a dynamic EPG would give Virgin and the TiVo box yet one more plus point.

MyVirginMedia is down, maybe they are intergrating a way for BT to add sports to your account like via an API (if BomberAF is wrong)

But do we know that the way Tivo operates is actually compatible with a dynamic EPG? The EPG seems to be downloaded in a sort of batch mode, generally overnight - could it handle frequent real time changes, with knock on impacts on recording clashes, series links etc. etc. without impacting on performance?
Certainly the BCC in particular were up to their old tricks during Wimbledon swapping things between channels at short/no notice (for no good reason - evidently nobody these days has a BBC1 only 405 line BW set). But other than that, is it really such a problem?
