BT cannot expect VM to carry their channel for nothing, or expect VM customers to pay more than non BT sky customers, so VM can make a profit. This would be unlawful, and a breach on competition laws. BT will get a subscription of every person that subscribes to the XL package but it won't be £12 or £15, it will be less. This will allow VM to make a profit as being a middle man or a broker in the deal.
If the price goes up by a pound or 2 then it may be down to the fact that VM have had to pay more for BT sports and have as such had their profit margin squeezed. It may be that VM decide they can charge more for their product.

Well we will wait and see. As MB has said before, nothing is confirmed until it appears on the EPG.

No. Other people want some other missing channels (mainly HD variants) Arthur. For example, I would rather have Nat Geo Wild HD than Sky Atlantic.

Its the BT Sport issue I'm struggling to believe needless to say lets just wait and see I'm happy to be proven wrong.

I would like to clarify this post.
I am not speculating on this deal, or the price or how it will be given to you. On the face of it, it will be given to you in exactly the same way that ESPN was. When I say that you may have to pay more is because VM have had to pay slightly more for this product and as such have had to charge customers slightly more.
I don't think this will be the case because the deal was set up specifically to get around an increase in prices so therefore it would result in no price increase. VM now have more people paying for an XL subscription because the dream boxes have gone so they have more money, this is a huge factor that has helped keep the price down.

IF there is a price rise and we do get SA and BT sports, surely the addition of SA will also be included in any future possible price rises.
Also I did not see what package you are on, but if you are on XL, I guess there are a few channels you do not really watch currently, so what will be the difference?

Don't expect you to believe me, and I am not doing it for credit or to be a known source. Atlantic will go onto VM because like I have said Atlantic was a tool that Sky used to sell themselves as a premium channel and VM a compromise. If you haven't left VM now you are probably not going to. you also have to consider that people are just downloading torrents of the programs shown on Atlantic so Sky are losing money.
It was always going to happen that 2 years after Atlantic being exclusive to sky it will be given to VM.

Sky will give it to VM as part of the deal they have with VM so there will be no additional cost for it. Sky make a lot of money from selling their products to VM. Sky don't charge VM for individual channels they charge them a set price for all channels.
Like you say the only price rise will be in future price rises, Sky customers dont get charged extra for Sky Atlantic.

Presumably the channels will have to be tested before they go live so if we do get them we should know before August 1st

Cheers for clearing that up BomberAF! I can follow your logic with the channel launches, and what you say is logical to me. I can't say I am overly bothered by the probable arrivals, but I will be happy for those who want them! At least it will shut a few people up on here when they eventually come.

When the dream boxes were around, people weren't subscribing to the XL pack they were just subscribing to basic packages. Therefore there is now more money available to VM, so that means although BT sport may cost more to VM than ESPN because of more money available people aren't having to pay more.

I may be being a bit thick, but it's the dream boxes I don't understand. What are dream boxes?
