Personally, I think your first interpretation was spot on; your meters appear perfectly calibrated to me.

May get Sky1+1 and other missing Sky basic channels if things work out.
|
I too thought that the Sky basics were covered for 9 years from when VM sold their channels to Sky.
Maybe there was a clause to review the situation at the end of this month, with a guarantee that the existing channels will still be available for a total of 9 years??

It's no longer a deal breaker or maker for consumers, so it would just seem very petty if Sky were to withhold the HD version. Who's to say that VM might insist that the HD version is included otherwise no deal will be struck at all. I'm sure even Sky with all their profits won't want to lose customers via other carriers.
|
Maybe that's the sticking point that's preventing a contract being signed? Ie we will get it, but VM are holding out for the HD channel for us too?

Every publican I have spoken to has said that they won't be taking BT Sport if it costs extra on Sky (they won't be allowed to show it from the VM feed).

A possible indication that negotiations between VM an BT will not be easy. BT Vision boss, Marc Watson, telling the Radio Times that they have deep pockets with the comment: "We are not dependent on achieving a certain number of subscribers to stay in business".

Cloud cuckoo land and a waste of loads of money. Also confirms they don't give a whatsit about customers who don't or cannot get their precious broadband.
Never trusted Murdoch, but this BT mob are a right bunch of blankety blank blank blanks and my past experience and this last few months show they have got worse if anything.
Sticking to Sky Sports and hoping the new talks bring some of the other Sky channels like the +1s.

It basically reinforces what a lot of people have been saying, BT now have a product to rival VM (broadband) and that they want those VM customers for themselves, not to let VM offer everybody the best of 3 worlds.

The price increases would have been baked into VMs financials for the year and as part of due diligence liberty would have known what they were, so don't think this has anything to do with with the takeover.

think BT are very deluded if they think VM customers will switch to BT just for bt sport especially if they got sky sports as only sky sports 1+2 available on bt and no HD I wouldn't touch BT with a billion mile barge pole

Slight exaggeration? Don't you mean 1/2 billion, or 0.346 billion pole

Why would anyone?
Only Freeview HD channels and some additional non HD channels delivered over the Internet, wow I don't think even Sky can offer such a good deal.
