			They're 'competing' with Sky more though with their sports offering that much is clear, Virgin don't have their own sports channel. Virgin don't work in that way so they would never allow direct sale of channels from content providers and I'm sure Sky wouldn't if they could

			True, but infinity isn't yet available in as many areas as VM so if people have the choice between ADSL and cable then BT are gonna find it difficult to get them to switch even with free sport offerings at least if they offer subscription for VM TV customers, they have more money coming in from people in that situation

it wholly depends on BT's endgame.  Every customer they can get to switch to BT Infinity, is extra revenue to compensate for free BT sport
 
I guess it also depends on what is better profit for them, and how hard they want to compete
