Re: The Xbox One Thread
Anonymous Xbox engineer explains DRM and Microsoft's Xbox One intentions
It's a long tail strategy, just like steam. Steam had it's growing pains at the beginning with all it's drm **** as well. [...] For digital downloads steam had no real competition at the time, they were competing against boxed sales. At the time people were pretty irate about steam, (on 4chan too...) It was only once they had a digital marketplace with DRM that was locked down to prevent sharing that they could do super discounted ****.
>Think about it, on steam you get a game for the true cost of the game, 5$-30$. On a console you have to pay for that PLUS any additional licenses for when you sell / trade / borrow / etc. If the developer / publisher can't get it on additional licenses (like steam), then they charge the first person more. [...] If we say "Hey publishers, you limit game to 39.99, we ensure every license transfer you get 10$, gamestop gets 20$" that is a decent model... Microsoft gets a license fee on first and subsequent game purchases, compared to just first now? That's a revenue increase.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Apparently the Xbox One games at E3 were running on Windows 7 and an Nvidia GTX, if this is true then i think it is 1 balls up by MS, i would like to know if the PS4 also did something similar.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Apparently that was just the unit running "LocoCycle", a game developed for 360 that's just been beefed up a bit for next gen.

That PC probably wasn't far off the spec of the dev units anyway.

More on Used Games policy and shared games. Still seems to me that the owner can play the game at same time its being shared. Only one person can play the shared copy at any given time

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Can't help but Lol at the Windows based PC's being passed off as Xbox one's above.
I hope to god they both look similar as the current gap is massive enough already. Anyway as for the possibility of being banned and losing games, are people forgetting they can ban your xbox 360 from even connecting to online services? something which I'm very sure will be implemented into the XBone. So forget about losing games, what about effectively losing the whole console.
I don't know about any of you but I'm pretty certain they'll carry it over.
Note: Currently to receive a console ban you'd have to do one of the following or both. 1) Theft of services such as DLC or Microsoft Points, free xbox live and so on. 2) Modded devices such as JTAG'd machines that are used online (currently an instant 999 year ban on the console)
If current rules apply for the next generation should we really care about those type of bans? If you're essentially stealing then I should think losing your console is a lucky escape rather than facing a more severe punishment.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
I can't see how anyone is able to steal DLC or MS points though. Unless the account gets hacked?

It's completely possible to do both and it's been happening since the launch of the xbox 360.
http://thenextweb.com/microsoft/2011...l-1-2-million/
there are also various methods to steal MS points on the xbox itself but only in the increments they provide. I'm not here to go into detail, just to say it's completely possible and continues to happen.
You are also correct about account theft which leads to credit card fraud and incredibly only leads to a console ban instead of prosecution.
Accounts and stolen goods often end up being sold from China though so Microsoft can't do much about it. It's been happening since launch like I said but took off massively after the release of FIFA 12, said incidents can be found all over the web.
Using any stolen account or dodgy MSP WILL lead to the xbox being banned completely online.

A JTAG'd Xbox 360 seen in the above picture, an instant 999 ban if they connect to the Xbox Live servers but some can bypass it, apart from seeming innocent and running homebrew etc, these things cause havoc online, modded call of duty lobbies to rampant infections in public lobbies, aimbots and what not, they can turn an online game upside down in a second. Here is a link to the console banning page: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/consoleban
Anyway enough with the gloom! Here's some morning enjoyment. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...67904647_n.jpg
