I have had experience of all, and have found Virgin the worst service

 | Unless you have actually had both services, you can't form a truly informed comparison between the two of them. No offence meant to anyone but it's a fact.

Virgins broadband, when not being shaped, is incredibly fast. SKY's broadband can't compete with the speeds on offer from Virgin. I'm lucky to get a consistent 15.5 Mb connection from SKY, no everyone with SKY broadband is so lucky, which makes the £3.75 I pay each month for broadband fantastic value. For me personally it suits my needs but I know 15.5 Mb isn't enough for some households.

I never really had any major issues with Virgins broadband, and so far the same applies to SKY. I must admit however that the Wifi connection I get from my SKY hub seems stronger than the Wifi connection I got from the Virgin super hub.

I think both companies offer great broadband services, but at opposite ends of the broadband scale. If you live in a bandwidth hungry household go with Virgin.

 | I am including BT infinity, though experience of this is still happening

I balance price, with gaming experience with reliability of downloads

Not overly concerned about speed, as long as it is enough for my uses.

And my last preference is for unlimited, though I am not a heavy user

Personally I've had neither service so am naturally unbiased. |

You really at our broadband expert then | We had BT once and it really is the pits and l vowed then we would never touch them again and that's not about to change.

Yes Colin is definitely the expert on a good many things but alas l suppose we all are armchair experts and critics when it comes down to it but alas we are wrong a good many times and we are right a good many times but at least we have fun voicing our opinions and don't adopt the Victor Meldrew type image.

Why should I worry about what is happening in other homes (so 1,000s or 1,000,000s means nothing), as that doesn't make my experience better or worse.

I do not work for any of the companies, nor favour any, just looking for best product for me.

I am talking about my own experience, not that of thousands of customers.

Media Boy, do you know if the pre-season friendlies will be televised.
I am picking on one game Celtic are playing at Griffin Park in July, does anyone know the answer.

Brentford are charging £25.00 for fans to see this game, which is a bit rich as some pre season games are less than that.

 Not.
 | This might be BT playing hardball with VM to presurise them into agreeing to their terms of carriage. Companies often do this by the use of publicity/adverts.

Unless we have another Sky Atlantic situation, where BT want to use their sports rights to encourage people to their platform- unless a LOT of money changes hands.

 | It could equally be that Virgin aren't that bothered, and Bt aren't either.

I suspect though it is the latter more so, BT not bothered whether Virgin get their product, so they can distinguish themselves from Virgin
 ---------- Post added at 20:22 ---------- Previous post was at 20:21 ----------

I also think, that the recent offer by Sky re cheap broadband, is because BT have gotten a reasonable number of sky customers for the broadband (not the tv).
