Re: Do You Wear a Wristwatch?

Since I don't have other "always on" tech with the time, I do use a watch.

Mine is a "Swordfish" digital with EL backlight ... it cost £1.50 (sale special) at TANDY (how long have they been gone) - it's still on the original battery, has a replacement strap off another old watch - and won't be getting another battery as the buttons are getting very iffy.

But I bought a spare, and not sure if the original battery (in, but isolated with thin plastic) will still be viable, but even if it needs one off a card of 99p store batteries, my next watch will be that one

Re: Do You Wear a Wristwatch?

I used to have a digital Star Wars watch when I was younger. The alarm on the watch was the Star Wars theme tune. What amazed me was the ability for the sound of the alarm to travel under water. Back in about 1988 I visited the Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh with my friends. This is an Olympic sized swimming pool. I was in one end of the pool whilst my friend was at the other. Above water there was noway he could hear the alarm but underwater he could hear it clearly. Not the greatest story ever told but it did blow my 9 year old mind at the time

that's because marketers have it in their head that when the hands of a watch or clock show this time, it is the closest representation to a smile. apparently, this makes you feel more positive emotion when viewing the product and more inclined to relate those emotions with the item that shows the 'smile', thus you are more receptive to buying it. it also frames the logo. the older 08:20 we used to see looked too sad, so they say.

This is because it show the brand which is normally above them.

I have a Pulsar which cost £150 (paid £75)

I did see a nice Citizen Red Arrows Ltd Ed but £600 was steep.

Breitling are nice but uber expensive

Re: Do You Wear a Wristwatch?

I find most watches (particularly the expensive ones) butt ugly. My last four watches have all been Jacob Jensen's, which I like for their minimalist design.

I currently have two:

Re: Do You Wear a Wristwatch?

Hmm, if they get any more minimalist, you would just be wearing a wrist strap

I've been an admirer of Jacob Jenson for some time, not just their watches.

Cheers
