Wasn't ESPN £10 to subscribe to but we got,it free in xl package? So shouldn't it follow as ESPN goes breests up, it is replaced by BT Sports, again for free in xl?

I can't see BT letting VM customers have it "free." They are trying to use their sports channel as a lure for people to take up their tv and broadband packages. There is a link to a BT statement, either put on here yesterday or Saturday!

No way will it be free in XL, at best it will be a reduced price but perhaps not even that.

I shall not be paying extra for BT Sports , its not worth it to me for a few extra football games. ESPN / America is a shdow of its former self so unless its in the xl pack you can count me out. I shall get my fix of American sports via other sources eg MLB game pass.

Virgin will not do that but maybe put prices on hold for some years.
Or they may reuse the money save on ESPN being on XL (Rumours at £2.50 per viewer) on getting new deal with other broadcasters signed.
See my 'Virgin TV' link for more info on what may come it do sign deals with other broadcasters.

I did not have Live SPL football in my house for 2/3 years before Setanta Sports joined the XL Package so I will not be paying any more for 30 SPL and 10 Rangers games when you can see the latest results on BBC Sport via Virgin on Demand or Sky Sports News.

Well I can't see many xl TV customers paying £10 a months extra for the same amount / tier of games they have been getting inclusive for the last few years.

Ps like I have Said previous the reason I havnt entered into any new contract recently is till I know what the score is regarding next seasons sports broadcasts, although it would be a bit of messing changing to sky I havnt ruled it out, but what if sky world customers get bt sports inclusive in return for bt customers getting sports 1-4 in HD, that would be a virgin killer wouldn't it.

£10 is £10 more than at the moment though. So either way, it's not a good situation.

I might be wrong but I thought Espn had 23 games and BT have 38 which includes some of the top tier games?

Very true. Setanta Sports, and ESPN during their first year, had 46 Premiership games. None first pick of course but still 8 games better off than BT will be able to offer.

It's not all about the football though, BT have some decent rugby games now. I wonder how many people (not just on this forum) just have SS simply for the rugby? My dad likes the rugby, and like me, is indifferent to "modern" football and rarely watches it. I doubt he will keep SS and £10 for BT sports would be a much better option for him. The only thing that may mean he keeps SS will be the Ashes in the summer.
Again, I doubt BT will do a deal like you suggest. No-one would join BT because they would probably already have SS1-4HD on Sky and will get free BT sports. BT customers would probably have to pay more for SS1-4HD anyway

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 2.
People need to wait for the pricing announcement believed to be this week rather than assuming , we honestly don't know how this will impact subscribers of each platform remember if BT alienate subscribers of both VM and Sky their venture into sports could fall at the first fence.

There ain't a hope in hell of its being free though MM, which as pointed out means even more to pay regardless of what price it is.

We will probably change to Sky. We are paying a lot at the moment and it's not really great value considering our main priority is Sports, in fact we only watch sports on top of terrestrial.
It works out cheaper at Sky for the same package, minus ESPN so as soon as we lose ESPN, Sky becomes cheaper, and that's with all HD channels.
