caveman is an unknown quantity at this point
Noisy Tivo

Had one fited yesterday and as the V+ was working great in the lounge I had the Tivo fitted in my sons bedroom. Iam informed and now have to agree the noise from the fan and HDD are unnacceptable for sleeping.
This cannot be avoided by putting it in standby as the fans are still active. Is this normal and if it is an inherant problem does it pose any problems (except inconvenience) switching it off at night.

Re: Noisy Tivo

I found Tivo quieter than my V+.... perhaps I had a dodgy one?

Re: Noisy Tivo

TiVo doesn't have a fan - the only noise coming from it would be the hard disk

Can't say I notice any noise from my Tivo even with everything else switched off.

Regarding turning it off, I used to turn mine off every night. The only problem I found beyond the obvious (that being that it cannot record overnight programmes if it is off) was that it takes around 10 minutes to start the box when you plug it back in.

I leave it on now as we have a new born baby in the house and if he is having a bad night, his mother likes to sit in the living room with him and she doesn't want to have to wait ten minutes for the Tivo to power up before she can watch TV.
