Re: Just had sky fibre installed
I actually received a *second* free Sky Hub today! I guess it's due to the initial cock up in the order.

Re: Just had sky fibre installed
I'll keep it as a spare
---------------
Had my Sky Fibre installed this morning by an extremely friendly and helpful Openreach engineer called Robyn
She sorted out the Data Extension, and made sure that everything was up and running before she left.

Re: Just had sky fibre installed
Sweet ping there Matt, have you logged into the router to see what your syncing at initially, your getting pretty much exactly the same as me, my router says I'm on 39,998 kbps Downstream and 10,000 kbps Up.
Should be plain sailing from here on

Re: Just had sky fibre installed
Yeah, I've logged in and the router says it's synced at 40 down and 10 up.
The BT & Sky checkers said we could get up to 50something, so we could have gone for Sky Fibre Pro but I don't think it would have been worth the extra £10 for just another 10Mbps.

Nice,,, your obviously reasonably close to your cabinet then, I'd hazard a guess you could probably get a fair bit more than 50 something if your getting full speed now.
I was tempted to get the Fibre Pro too but I've never missed or found myself wanting the extra bandwidth, plus a tenner a month is a tenner a month.

Re: Just had sky fibre installed
I think she said the cab was about 300 or 400 metres away, a couple of streets over.
I guess another benefit of Pro would be the upload, which I think is 20 rather than 10?
But... as you say, an extra tenner is an extra tenner...
Still, what we have now is awesome compared to what we had before (6-7Mbps down, 768kbps up).

Re: Just had sky fibre installed
Your a bit further away than I am (about 200 metres) but anyway, see how you get on but the upload could be beneficial (if you need it) and you can always upgrade at a later date, it's a shame you cant access your line stats to find out what your line could theoretically handle.

Re: Just had sky fibre installed
Yeah, a pity all the router tells you is the sync speed.
Still, I'm happy

Good so far
It's so nice being able to download at a decent speed.
It'll be great for when Mrs D and I are both wanting to download stuff or stream videos at the same time - she won't moan about me killing her iPlayer or Netflix connection anymore!
