When was the last time any official information came from Sky/VM regarding Sky Atlantic apart from the articles over 2 years ago?

Has it been offered to Smallworld and other providers?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 2.

No other provider has Atlantic.

Sky freely admit that they use Atlantic as an exclusive to attract people to their service.

What more evidence do you need?

I think that negotiations never really ended between VM and Sky over Atlantic; I suspect it's a not too frequent but on going discussion, though this is supposition on my part and may not be correct.

I do think there will come a time when the price is right for both parties and I do think that when Atlantic launches on Now TV, that will change the Dynamic. At that point Sky will no longer be using it as an exclusive to draw people to a Sky satellite subscription. So Sky may calculate that they will get more from a constant fixed revenue from VM than from the number of VM users that decide to subscribe to Now TV just for Atlantic content.

Having gone on record to say it was a fantastic product, I think it is fair to assume that if the price were reasonable Berkett would have paid it.

The same would be true of the f1 channel, or the Sky basics, but yet they managed those deals. In the case of f1 Virgin were able to announce that they would carry it within days of Sky. If both sides wanted to do a deal they could and would have done. Virgin have called it a fantastic product which they'd like to carry, Sky have said its a product which drives a quarter of all new subscriptions and make a point of advertising it as exclusive.

I agree that the suggestion that the price is unreasonable is an assumption, but I really do believe that the available evidence points to it being a fair one.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 2.

Its a simple equation for Berkett. Will the new customer attraction and reduction in churn cover the cost of taking the channel. The answer appears to be no as they are still attracting new custom even though they don't carry it.

Sky said when they launched Now TV that films would be first, followed by sport and then would come entertainment channels, including Atlantic.

What we don't know is how they will give access to Atlantic. It could be the whole channel, just individual series, seasons and episodes or one big entertainment package including all or several of the channels that Sky broadcast on satellite.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 2.

I think it will be a small channel bundle along the lines of Sky Basics.

But the price? If it's anywhere near the price of the Sky Movies Monthly Pass (which is cheaper than VM and Sky if you don't have sports) then you may aswell get a Sky Go Monthly Pass for £15 includes more channels than just the Sky Basics.

This is why I don't get why VM Customers are waiting for Now TV, seen as they can access Atlantic with a Sky Go Monthly Pass

Dave, in response to your reply to my post too, I find it difficult to believe VM and Sky could not come to an agreement in which Atlantic can be a standalone premium channel at a ridiculously high price say £20 per month. VM customers who want the channel will then be happy, those who don't (me) will be happy too. Sky could get roughly the same amount of money as a subscriber on their lowest tier TV package at the same time.

£20 a month for a minority channel no way should that happen even on sky it a basic channel not a premium one and why should VM customers be penalised for a sky channel that don't get 10% of there customers watching it
