Those with a long memory and a real fantasy anorak may remember Neverwhere, written by Neil Gaiman for BBC2 in 1996 and thoroughly butchered thanks to old-school BBC low budget production values (think Blake's 7 or classic Who).
Despite the BBC's worst efforts, the story was quite brilliant and was later novelised by Gaiman. Now it has been adapted for radio, and with a stellar cast including James Macevoy, Benedict Cumberbatch and Anthony Head I can't help wondering whether it's been done as a showcase to pitch the story for a TV remake or even a feature film.

Anyway, you can judge the story for yourself, it has been on Radio 4 and 4 Extra all week and is on iPlayer for catch-up. Highly recommended.

I will give it a go. A lot of us have fond memories of a lot of shows but if we were to watch them now they would look poor. I hope they choose a good cast. Avon has to be played well

Actually he did make it to series 2 and then got taken away until the end - I'm sure you know the story.

Hmmm...I believe the idea has been proposed a few times and not come to fruition.
It would be an interesting project.

I feel a reboot to be preferable over a remake.
I think it would take some considerable talent in all departments to carry it off, something the SYFY channel movies lack to the Nth degree.
Who could play the evil Servilan without going completely OTT? |

The thing is, they always get The Asylum to do the movies.

Carrie Anne Moss might have been a candidate back in her Matrix days but I fear her moment is passed now. |

Also this series is being directed by Martin Campbell who directed both Edge of Darkness (and the excellent TV miniseries on which it was based), Goldeneye, the Zorro films and Casino Royale, and has one of the writers of Heroes writing for it (OK, the last three seasons of Heroes didn't match the first, but the first was excellent).

Digital Spy have suggestions for who should play Blake's 7...
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/tub...fi-revamp.html
Not too sure about their suggestion of Joshua Jackson as Blake, as I think he could be too friendly. Having said that, he played the observer influenced Peter in series 5 of Fringe brilliantly coldly, so I could be wrong, and he could play the mercenary elements of Blake well.

Summer Glau would be good as Cally, but her presence in a series does appear to be the death knell (although she has appeared in the Big Bang Theory a couple of times, and that seems to be doing OK).

Morena Baccarin could be good as Servalan. She played Diana in V well.

Arthur Darvill would be good as Villa. IMO, his performance as Rory in Doctor Who showed he can play the comedy elements of the role, as well as the action.
