Re: Teenage Schoolgirl Stabbed To Death On Bus
I bet ATOS would have found him fit for work. This is a tragedy the darker side of untreated mental illness something a lot of people think they understand but very few actually do. How he has not been diagnosed or anything will wait and see if this was a sudden breakdown or something

Re: Teenage Schoolgirl Stabbed To Death On Bus
Reports are still not that detailed and I am surprised at the lack of attention that has been paid to the case now that the guy has been sectioned, you'ld think it would be a main news item rather than hidden away. Makes me wonder if there is more detail to come.
From what has come out though it does sound like a sudden event. He didn't steal anything, he didn't know her, he apparently had no reason to stab her, and yet he got up and did so on a busy bus. It's madness.

I don't know how you could ever come to terms with that as a parent. It's senseless - atleast if it was an ex-boyfriend or something you could see that there was a 'reason' (how ever deranged) for it - but this - it's completely random, and if she'd been standing 2 steps further down the bus it wouldn't have happened to her.

and todays award for stating the obvious Sudden psychotic episodes are not uncommon. I know a guy convinced a drug dealer moved in next door to get him and he went round trying to kick the door in intent on doing him serious harm

Something went wrong in the brain. Unfortunately someone else's brain in this case. I guess it's akin to a wild animal lashing out or some other tragic random act of nature.

Re: Teenage Schoolgirl Stabbed To Death On Bus
So sad this to think family going through at this moment. But agree the mental healthcare in tatters in uk. Patients not getting help they need even when they cry for help. Something needs to be done.
In this case of this schoolgirl it maybe he was not being treated as it may been unknown mental health. Family really need answers.
Reminded me of the young woman who was pregnant stabbed to death by man who had mental health issues.

Re: Teenage Schoolgirl Stabbed To Death On Bus
but you look at the various threads with ATOS in and you get members here think the mentally ill should just pull themselves together. Its the mentality of guys like bogof who personally attacked me when I admitted to my mental illness on this forum and others who have been staunch oppositions to mine and others side in these threads that has led to the stigma and total lack of understanding of the mentally ill.
Maybe someone in this guys family knew something was wrong but due to lack of understanding they did not realise how serious it was

Even if he was being treated this sort of thing will still happen ,it's hard to know what to do because for the number of people calling for these type of mentally ill patients to be locked away from society there are equally the same amount protesting that they are locked away

dont disagree its delicate situation like tizmeinnit says people some lack understanding. People dont often see the signs and dont act due lack of that understanding. Only experts even those can make decision wrong. I think some issues go back to the care in the comunity policy.
With care facilities closed, poor or operate on financial burden rather patient needs we wont solve it. Wonder how many out there even getting any help at all as they themselves dont see the signs.
In many cases we see mental patients quite fine in open world there those who aint its difficult situation. Dont agree locking up for sake of caution either. We likely always see isolated incidents sadly like clare and this young lady christina.
Unless in both there been failures of care and duty we have to accept them sadly. It just heartbreaking that it happens.
I feel for the family christina gold bless RIP
