Worthless Coins
Quote:
The coin worth less than any other in the world
This month the Canadian mint stopped distributing the penny, or one-cent piece, as it costs more to make than it is worth. It's far from being the lowest-value coin around, however. Some central banks are clinging on to coins that are truly "small change"...

Re: Worthless Coins
They can drop one and two pence coins here as far as I'm concerned.

WE still have £1 notes in Scotland, although they are getting harder to find now.

Absolutely not.The more they remove the lower denomination coins the more prices get rounded up by 5p instead of to the nearest penny..Inflation is already rampant.

Not necessarily. You can still have penny prices. It's just the total bill that gets rounded (when paying cash). Finland and the Netherlands do this. People just prefer it to walking around with a pocket full of copper.

Re: Worthless Coins
5p coins can be dropped, they are utterly useless, and easily lost.

I don't walk around with pockets full of change.I put mine into a large tray at home and when I get enough I take them to the local Asda and use the coin bin and convert it to silver or even better paper money.

Why pay a percentage to the machine? Just count it yourself and save more.
