ITV probably don't feel there will be a massive impact on advertising revenue as anyone wishing to view the content still has access to the SD version.
thanks i was not aware of that- but it was Sky's influence then.

Hopefully the day will come when HD is seen as the standard and we say say goodbye to the extra charges (sky premium channels) and not being able to get HD versions of SD channels.

HD as standard might not be as far away as once thought.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2013...es?INTCMP=SRCH

"The total number of high definition channels on Freeview will increase from four to 14 by the end of next year subject to regulatory approval from Ofcom."

What could these be, and will they be added to Virgins M package and above as standard?

If ITV2 HD, ITV3 HD and ITV4 HD form part of the 14 potential HD channels on Freeview, I'd guess when they launch next year that's when they will arrive on Virgin.

All speculation of course.

That's not forever though

Ofcom wants 10 new channels on Freeview, all in HD, and is asking if anyone fancies running them, but only until 2019 when the needs of mobile telephony will cause the plug to be pulled.

That's not to say the HD channels will only be around for that length of time. Converting the existing multiplexes from DVB-T to DVB-T2 should mean that most, if not all can be accommodated after the temporary multiplexes are switched off.

We're adding Sky Movies Disney and Sky Movies Disney HD to our Sky Movies Collection in time for the Easter holidays on 28th March 2013, at no additional change.

Sky Movies will include great Disney family movies like Finding Nemo, Cars, A Bug’s Life and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, as well as classics such as Bambi.

We'll have the full details on this closer to the date.

Great news for Disney Cinemagic viewers!

That'll come with the next Disney carriage deal (presumably), unless the loss of Cinemagic requires a renegotiation?

We really need a mole in the negotiations team.

That was a little sudden mate!! It appeared as an official HD channel on Wikipedia, but Disney Junior HD would be interesting! Latest Movies, NCIS: Los Angeles, Game of Thrones, Jake and the Never Land Pirates!
Hmmm, interesting!

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.

There are good benefits for being with Sky, the Equipment is FREE, we have just gone in for it.
We have had the VM phone line for many years, and had Sky with it.

A first 2TB box is £149, any more are £249.

Is free foreign for really expensive?
