Animal Planet HD is a superb channel. The HD seems to look better than most other HD channels too. Very enjoyable to watch

ESPN UK may be going, but I doubt ESPN America will. Don't forget that the version we get here covers more than just the UK and Ireland. Then there are two other versions (one for most of mainland Europe and one for the Middle East and Africa). As they don't have any local presenters and just take the entire US feed they don't have the same overhead that ESPN UK have, plus they don't have to worry about overpriced football contracts.

Did the UK Apple TV ever have NHL GameCenter? I swear I've seen it but it must have been a US screenshot.

No, that's not on the UK model.

If the rumours are true that ESPN UK will be closing by May then it might be sooner that VM get to negotiate a new deal.

If so then yes, they would. I would expect, if that was the case, that the encrypted recording would need the card and the box it was originally paired with to allow playback.
I'll take this with a pinch of salt however, as I just tested playing back a recording with the card removed. The recordings, including those from Sky basics played.

I expect most broadcasters would be concerned if disc cloning was possible. Sky's extra restriction is to prevent viewing after unsubscribing,
|
Wouldn't copying the programmes with a DVD recorder or streaming them over a network or the internet be much simpler for anyone wishing to go down that route?
And yet the recordings play back without a card...

Virgin customers should be used to waiting now
Did I head some news about ESPN not doing so well financially and might not last?

ESPN is an profitable American global cable television network and as such will soak up any small losses in parts of its worldwide operations.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.
Quest+1 update.
My insider has today told me that Quest+1 will not be on M+ or L Packages on Virgin Media.
Quest+1 is going into XL FROM Tuesday on Virgin Channel 173.
