TiVo Exclusive?
Hi, Just looking for advice.
I was lead to believe that TiVo was UK exclusive to Virginmedia. But Nintendo are launching TiVo on the Wii U soon. So will the UK get TiVo on the Wii u?
PS, I don't have Virginmedia I get TV/BB/Phone from Sky. But it just seems like a cheap easy way of getting TiVo.

Re: TiVo Exclusive?
That looks to me like the TiVo app being made available on the wii u, not being able to use your wii u as a TiVo, but as a tablet.

They say it's Tivo integration. Not Tivo. You'll probaby find it can act (if VM allowed it to) as a receiver on a Tivo Multi Room network, so it'll be able to play back recordings stored on your existing Tivo, and may be able to watch live streams from it.

Re: TiVo Exclusive?
Ah well, I got excited after using TiVo in America its fast as lightening and rich with content, Unfortunately the VM TiVo experience is not quite the same.

Re: TiVo Exclusive?
It's just a cut down version of the TiVo app/TV Anywhere (with Virgin additions removed) for the WiiU GamePad.

Very true ( too rich for my simple tastes ) VM TiVo is not a patch - so I am told by people that like these things - on it. Me happy to watch ( anything will do that for me) record. and use catch up

Which TiVo box did you use in the US? The majority of the TiVo code is exactly the same between the US Premiere boxes and VM TiVo.

Re: TiVo Exclusive?
The code may be the same, but what about the hardware?

Agree, although it could still be sluggish especially channel change. Tivo uses Adobe flash here (what a good idea that was....) not sure about what the US does now. And as said, their hardware is different.
I've yet to find a digital stb with instant channel change, all seem to have "quirks".

The hardware is custom but again will be based on TiVo Premiere in the US
In fact it was only because of Virgin's requirement to have a 3 tuner box that TiVo wrote the code that now allows them to do Premiere 4

All the current TiVo Premiere boxes use Flash - because as I said the majority of the code is the same.
In addition to the tuner code, other VM requested changes have transferred back across to US TiVo, such as the HD EPG and mini guide
