OFT - Petrol market working well...
Phew! There was I thinking we're being ripped off...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-21258809
Quentin Willson of FairFuelUK is shocked however:
Quote:
Every motorist and business in Britain instinctively knows that
something's not right, he said.
The OFT appears to have failed to address the key issues of : why diesel is more expensive than unleaded in the UK when this is not the case in Europe, why falls in the oil price take so long to be reflected at the pump, and why there are such variations in price, often from the same branded forecourts, within the same area.

Crime's falling too by the way...

If you read between the lines of what they're actually saying. they're saying that it's cheap enough before taxes.

Re: OFT - Petrol market working well...
While I take all the points Quentin made.
I do not see a price difference at all with in the stations I use. My choice comes down to Tesco with club points ( no thanks) Morrison`s with fuel miles ( Will next at least to buy for the next 6 months to get a fiver) or Sainsburys & get nectar points.see no competition with regard to price. Unleaded 132.9 when I looked Monday this week seems to be the same at each one.

Re: OFT - Petrol market working well...
not shocked at all.
rip off britian alive and kicking. Even if we take tax away there abnormalities.
Problem is there too many vested interests to keep it high in uk. Worried this latest 5p increase what will it do to already creaking country. From deliveries to self employed this increase maybe step too far. It could cause price increases already higher to what going up when its last thing we need right now.
I see a pattern and it has more than a passing notice that what is saved in there own back yard being passed on to british people. That goes with utilities and refineries who owned by european nations.
Surely government can see what going on why there no steps to prevent it.

Re: OFT - Petrol market working well...
I've just been trying out the price comparison gizmo on the BBC link and even if my diesel cost was 1p/ litre, it would STILL be cheaper in Venezuela!
And you probably get free cocaine with every 4 gallons.

Re: OFT - Petrol market working well...
Would anyone be interested in renting a boat to smuggle fuel back from Venezuela?
