Of course but the same also apply's to the many false assumptions that you seem to be obsessed with in your obsessions with everything about VM.

I agree, it's the reason I haven't upgraded to TiVo or swapped to sky, would have gone to sky at Christmas till I realised what a lot of messing and expense it would be to have on demand on two boxes, but then I won't commit to virgin on a new contract till they start to deliver more HD. I'd like to know either way what their plans and strategy are so I can make an informed choice, I won't enter into a new contract with them till I know, but in the mean time sky is always an option.

There must be a tipping point, when SD channels are demoted to their HD counterparts slots, lets start the revolution in April by banishing BBC2 SD to CH 187

Err turned on my freesat TV early this morning and couldn't get any channels, presumably because of the amount of snow on the dish... channels are just starting to reappear now the sun is out, not a good advert for tv via satellite.

Except that rumour was specifically for October. Come November it should have been obvious that it wasn't true.

Poor example. BBC2 HD won't be regionalised so can't replace the SD versions.
Actually the revolution started last summer. Did you notice how the HD Olympic channels came before the the SD ones?

I agree. Then some further rumours surfaced on Digital Spy, Media Boys Blog, Virgin Community Forum and here which keeps customers guessing.
"Over the weekend I have seen rumours on both Digital Spy Forums and Cable Forum that says Virgin Media worker has told an Virgin viewer that '15 HD channels' are to launch on Virgin Media in November."
"On Virgin Media Forum - Virgin Media worker 'Leanne_W' has posted the following: Hello, I have checked for future channels that are being released in HD on Virgin Media xl tv package and there is only a set date for one new channel in December is Sky News HD."
"Over the weekend I have seen rumours on both Digital Spy Forums and Cable Forum that says Virgin Media worker has told an Virgin viewer that '15 HD channels' are to launch on Virgin Media in November."
''The latest I am hearing from 2 different well placed sources is, that Virgin will be launching Sky News HD, Sky Sports News HD and Sky Atlantic on 9th December.''
We don't know the source of all of the rumours but what we do know is Media Boy, who is well known as the go to guy for channel info, was being fed lies by at least one Virgin Media employee. We have also seen incorrect information being published on Virgins own Community forum regarding future channel launches.
It's easy to see why people would suggest Virgin are playing a game with their own customers, feeding false information to retain customers. Personally I think it's just a few rogue employees but I could easily be wrong.

Point taken SP, I forgot about the Olympic HD channels, but why if true SyFi +1 has been promoted in the EPG ahead of their HD channel

Do we? Anybody could create a new user here, and send a PM to MB claiming to be a VM employee.

I agree that anyone can pose as anyone online. It's easily done. Has anyone proven the person feeding information to Media Boy wasn't employed by Virgin? It would be interesting to see how Media Boy verifies his sources as he beleived 100% what he was being told, and that the person was employed by Virgin. I'm sure when the list of channels launching in October was published, which included ITV2 HD etc..., the news spread from Media Boys blog and here to Digital Spy, Virgin Community Forum, Facebook, Twitter and various other sources. Virgin Media knew this information was out in the domain as customers where asking them about the rumours. Why didn't Virgin Media nip it in the bud by making it clear the information going around simply wasn't true?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.
The October rumours was from an Virign Viewer who pass on info to me from an insider they know.
I have since stop using that Viewer for info.
All the 'Busy January' rumours was from an insider I know.

It's not really unusual for this thread though. Hyped up "coming soon" predictions followed with a sense of disappointment when the facts are finally made available. Something we should all be used to by now.

It was not an 'big build up' my Insider only confirm the names to me just over two weeks ago. But they also says 'Do not use until January 29th'.
I was just given everyone the head up on the renumbering but not making it easy for everyone to work out on they own.
I was only given the go-ahead yesterday due to the Universal Channel ad on the Channel renumbering.

I am be wrong but only a small percentage of tv customers would read this and other forums where the info is posted. Even with word of mouth I would guess the numbers are small enough to not make any real difference to the companies as a whole?
Mistakes do happen but I lean toward thinking similar to you Chad.

So a huge organisation like Virgin are using MediaBoy as a patsy? Think that's a bit too cloak and dagger fantasy tbh. Think we have to appreciate that this is a rumour thread not a fact thread. MediaBoy's rumours for the most part lead to nothing, because they are just that rumours. It's kind of him to do so despite his "sources" generally being wrong.
