Members on this site have made it clear time and time again they want the channel. They don't need me to prove anything. They are smart enough to make up their own minds without reading my posts.

You might not want the channel, but the majority of others do.

I'd be very unhappy if I had to pay an extra quid for a channel I'd never watch Make the channel a subscription by itself and that would satisfy everyone

I didn't suggest comments posted here represents the majority of virgin subscribers. I made it clear I was only referring to members on this site.

The channel often reaches 1,000,000 viewers when the likes of Game of Thrones and Boardward Empire get episode premiers.
BARB includes recordings in their viewing figure totals. Only problem is they only include recordings that are watched within 7 days of the broadcast. There is likely to be thousands more viewers for SKY Atlantic, and many other TV channels, who don’t ever watch the channel “live” saving up programmes on series link on their PVR to view at a later date. On Demand views of shows are only counted up to 7 days after broadcast too. These people are never credited as viewers, even though they are watching the channels content.

Chad, it's 10 million households, not 10 million viewers. It's nowhere near an 8% share of that.

The question I was asked was:
"Out of interest what would its viewing figures be as a percentage of Sky subscribers?"
SKY have just over 10 million subscribers, hence my answer.
Your point however is also very valid.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.
OK, fair point-If the question was "as a percentage of Sky consumers" or similar then, based on an average household of 2.4 people (ONS), then it's nearer 3%.
I note from the Barb link that it's actual audience share is 1.3%, which is comparable with Sky Arts, albeit that channel is more widely available. Atlantic is a great statement of Sky's commitment to TV, and it's a fantastic driver of subscriptions. What it isn't is well watched. That doesn't mean it isn't a good channel, Btw.

Simples as it has the best overall value package.

Once you have reached a certain level it is hard to progress the figure. 10 million households is a very impressive figure in these times, I am sure VM would love to have that many subscribers.
VM have grown marginally faster, but after the latest round of price rises the next set of figures will make interesting reading.

This has been discussed before but in terms of footprint they have a very similar % of customers, even though Sky can sell in VM areas but VM can't sell in 50% of the country.
Reckon there numbers will be v good this time round, my mates a tech and he says they have been very busy installing and have a major recruitment drive on at the moment

Sky is more readily available than Virgin. Virgin has more subscribers than Sky as a percentage of those that it's available to. Generally if you can get Virgin you can also get Sky, and in those areas Virgin does better.
In terms of the price rises, if you take posters on here as a representative sample, perhaps only Chad actually moved, maybe one or two more. People will moan like hell, but they really won't bother to do anything about it.
