To me it actually reads as SKY trying to highlight to their own customer’s that no other TV provider offers SKY Atlantic. It could also be read as SKY making it clear to people who watch SKY through other TV providers that you can only get SKY Atlantic through SKY. Remember, if you are not getting access to SKY channels from SKY directly, you are not a SKY customer. That is a fact. You are classed as a SKY consumer.

However when Sky sell advertising, they include VM customers as being able to view Sky content.

The change may mean nothing and its simply a case of making the message clearer although "Excusive to Sky customers" did this in my opinion?

Was the old statement “Exclusive to SKY customers” or was it “Exclusive to SKY”?

If the statement was previously “Exclusive to SKY customers” I agree that was a clear statement. “Exclusive to SKY” however could easily be misinterpreted. Viewers may have thought that the content on SKY Atlantic was exclusive to SKY rather than the actual channel i.e. Mad Men is now exclusive to SKY not the BBC. This may not have made it clear to SKY customers that the actual channel itself is not available via any other provider such as Virgin or BT. The new statement however makes it crystal clear that the channel itself can’t be viewed via any other provider.

It's just another way of saying 'exclusive to Sky customers', isn't it? Mind you, as I susbcribe to Sky channels via VM, I consider myself to be a Sky customer.

As long as members are happy for the thread to be taken in this direction, that's fine by me.
Does this mean that you are going to answer my question then, Richard?

In the current economic market and with such fierce competition platforms probably see 'Exclusive' as a way of retaining customers by offering content they can't see elsewhere , I was only reading the other day that Netflix are to increase the amount of content they produce themselves only today they tweeted 'Arrested Development' Coming May Only on Netflix.

It's all pretty irrelevant as it will stay exclusive (however it's worded) until another platform gets access. But we know for certain that in the not too distant future, it will become non exclusive when Atlantic content is added to Now TV, which will be available via Youview and presumably Roku boxes plus the web.
