More Tube Strikes

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-11967948

Quote:
Services on two Tube lines are set to be disrupted by a 24-hour walkout by train crews at two London train depots.

The RMT union has told workers at the Bakerloo depot at Elephant and Castle to strike from 2100 GMT on Friday, 17 December.

Crews at the Northern line depot at Morden in south London have been instructed to strike at the same time.
The weird part here is that the Morden depot staff actually rejected the strike ballot but have been 'instructed' to strike anyway due to the affirmative vote from the Bakerloo depot.

Bob Crow repeatedly talks about this as being two separate disputes but would appear to be quite happy to sacrifice his members at the Morden depot, contradicted their wishes, in his urinating contest with LU.

What a guy.

Re: More Tube Strikes

For the curious here are the ballot results. http://www.rmt.org.uk/Templates/Inte...?NodeId=141011

Morden voted yes, the rest of the Northern Line no, overall the vote was a no.

It would appear that the RMT can pick and choose which votes they like the look of, so Morden goes on strike.

I would love it if we could do ballots like that within yes / no questions, different outcomes for each area.

Tube workers in fresh action over pensions

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-20390626

Quote:
Tube maintenance workers are to stage a new wave of strikes in a row over pensions and benefits.

Staff who maintain and upgrade three Tube lines will walk out for 24 hours at 06:00 GMT on Friday to kick start the industrial action.

The Rail Maritime and Transport union is demanding equality and a fair deal for Tube Lines' employees.

Transport for London has said the workers kept existing terms and conditions of employment.

Re: More Tube Strikes

Tube strike on Boxing Day...

BBC

Quote:
London Underground drivers are to strike on Boxing Day, and 18 and 25 January in a row over bank holiday pay, the Aslef union has said.
A stoppage is likely to affect Tube services across the capital, causing disruption for shoppers and tourists.

Re: More Tube Strikes

Complete and utter ******s.

I have arranged flights for my daughter and her boyfriend to come up from Heathrow on Boxing Day.

I can only hope something nasty happens to each one of them over Christmas.

What annoys me the most is that this is not about the drivers its about the fact that Mick Whelan just wants to **** all over the Government because he don't like them, as far as the Mick Whelan is concerned the public can go sod off.

Re: More Tube Strikes

The funny thing is, while this irritates me (while I don't use tubes, as a commuter, I know the chaos they can cause), I feel sorry for the actual drivers because I feel ultimately they will lose out.

All the while they have a Union leadership who are willing to call a strike on any little problem, they are giving both TFL and the Government the justification they need to automate the tube and just have a non union staff member aboard. Remember, the only legal requirement is to have someone aboard who can lead the passengers away from the train, and along the track if something happens.

And that is only a requirement where the tube goes underground (52% of the network is not underground).
