Do Virgin still do V+ box
As i was offered one in my offer to come back to Virgin, but got my contract through door yesterday & its saying i get a V HD box not a V+ box, there also trying to charge me for install when my offer says its free install, so ill have to wait for the man who is coming to my flat from Virgin office in Lewisham to pick up the offer that i quoted to him & make sure he gets the install fee taken off.

Re: Do Virgin still do V+ box
Officially, the V+ box is no longer given out to customers. However, when I had my TiVo installed and another box put upstairs, I was expecting a V HD box, but got a V+ box. Ask the engineer when they come for a V+ box and they may have some in the van. If not, then I would think you get the basic V box.

Re: Do Virgin still do V+ box
If you do manage to get a V+, make sure it is FULLY activated, as these boxes can be activated without the recording functions (& without HD).

that is what it said on the offer, but when i rang virgin & spoke to a man about it he said they don't do V+ boxes anymore,i'm going to a Virgin Office in Lewisham on Thursday to show them the offer in person as i have been dealing with a man there & he said not to take notice of the contract Virgin have sent me, that says i have to pay an install fee, where on my offer its saying free install.

Re: Do Virgin still do V+ box
If you have written evidence of the offer, check the expiry date. Otherwise, you've probably misunderstood the whole deal and you are actually getting a VHD box. If it turns out that you are getting a VHD, ask the installs engineer about getting a V+ box, they normally have some recons in their vans. If you do get the V+ installed however, make sure the engineer calls the Virgin Activations team *himself*, if you phone up yourself you'll probably get denied as the V+ is no longer supplied.

Re: Do Virgin still do V+ box
Plain and simple, to get rid of old stock. There is a very small amount left now though, mainly V+ boxes that have been replaced with TiVos that's why the technicians have them in their vans.
It's much cheaper for the company to give them out to customers than recycling/destryoing them.

Engineer swopped one out for me to resolve the issue of getting any TV guide after midnight. Also had HD audio/visual sync issues but that wouldnt have been the reason.

I think that argument is flawed.
By giving away a V+, you have reduced the stock available for replacing faulty V+s in valid customers whilst increasing the number of V+s in circulation which may require replacing.

And also slowing down getting to the place where all active boxes can accept MP4, which would give us more recording capacity. I am surprised that they are still giving out V+ boxes.
