Spreading my connection
I have a Superhub that is wired to this computer and to my Sky+ box.
My son has a Sky+box, and a PS3, and a PC, in his bedroom (when he is naughty I send him to MY bedroom )
He connects to the Superhub wirelessly, but I'd like to wire it.
I don't have 3 spare connections on the Superhub and would prefer to only send 1 cable to his bedroom.
Anyone got a suggestion/solution please ?

Re: Spreading my connection
Thanks thenry. Have looked at that, would need a fair few units though. 3 for my son, possibly one to replace the sky box link. Also read that they don't like being plugged into multiple socket adaptors. With all the gear my son has he would need a wall of sockets :-)
I have some cables, also have the old Netgear modem the Superhub replaced. I was just wondering if I could do it on the cheap :-)

Re: Spreading my connection
you don't need multiple plugs. just a set of 2 plugs then setup an access point upstairs or something

the old netgear thing you have is what, a black standard VM hub? or an actual router (model?) that was linked to a VM modem ?

Re: Spreading my connection
Great answer. What's an access point ?
The modem is the black Netgear I got when I moved to 50M, which was then replaced by the SH. Been running the SH in modem mode for a while, cos my son reckons it improves COD. Now he is on Black Ops, or something, we put it back to SH only. It's a WNR 2000

Re: Spreading my connection
If you are willing to pull one wire through then just get a network cable with the right length to get into his room and buy a small hub to use in his room that you connect his devices to, that way you only need to pull that one cable that goes to the hub when he is naughty

Re: Spreading my connection
Get a GS108E think I paid £20-30 off Ebay and pull 1 Cat 6 cable into his room and then connect all his devices to the switch works a treat.

Re: Spreading my connection
Just discussed it with him. He isn't very bothered about the PC or the Sky+, so it looks like he will go for the Homeplug option.
Would still have the option of pulling his connection when he is naughty, although he is 26, 6 foot tall and pays a part of the connection fee
Thanks for all the help

I know which is why I use a powerline adapter, how ever the op said about pulling one cable.
Either way it might make sense to get a hub for the other room to plug in the other devices as it does give a lot more reliable connection than wireless.

Hubs are stupid. Get a switch.
