Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion
I will be upgrading next week
My reasoning is I can always go back to 7 if 8 has too many bugs and if I waited for MS to iron out the bugs then that might take us past the 31st January and I won't be so inclined if I have to pay more than £25 for it.

What if I change my mind? Can I just go back to my old operating system? Not exactly. The version of Windows that you had on your PC before you upgraded won’t be there anymore. To get it back, you'll need to reinstall the previous version of Windows from the recovery or installation media that came with your PC. Typically, this is on a DVD.

It'd be easier just to install a registry hack to disable metro & re-enable the start menu. Then you still benefit from the general speed improvements.

Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion
Got it downloading now. Paid £15 for it because my laptop was purchased after 2 June.

Yes £50 for a physical copy and £24.99 for the download one.
It's been that price for months.

Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion
I've now got it installed! I quite like the Metro design, doesn't look like I'll end up using it much though...

Either I'm an idiot or I can't get apps to open. I'm trying to open the app store but it won't. I tried opening Mail as well but it wouldn't open. Any ideas?

Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion
Yeah, I've got an ISO. When you run the upgrade assistant it asks you how you want to install. You can pick "Install now", "Install from media"(copy it to a disc then install) and there was another option I think.
