It was only once I realised that my upgrade hadn't happened I checked.
I rang the first day I noticed that new customers were getting 30mb for the same price I was paying for 10

VM do not have enough staff to be able to go through all their customer database, find out who's paying what and how much they should be paying.

Yeah a small difference is fine, but this Itshim's talking about paying the same for 10Mb as 30Mb - that's a 200% difference. You might not complain about new employees getting 50% more than you but 200%?

Yes it does, and people complain about it (and unlike here, don't get told to effectively "shut up and deal with it because your argument is stupid")

And what about the extra staff needed to make all the phone calls? And these would essentially be 'cold' calls too. There's a thread around here somewhere recently about people receiving unwanted calls from VM. Now you want them to make more of them to more people?

Whilst it may be an opinion, it is not "the truth" unless you can prove it.

They could always email the great news that your price would be going down, or not only that just drop the price and mention why on your next ebil

No one has said his argument is stupid, but if you find out that your employer is messing around with your wages, do you go and constantly moan about it on an internet forum or do you get advice on the forum then go moan at the employers

Personally I moan to a trade union. Consider teh internets as a customer union for ISPs?

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed

Phoned Virgin Media, they said they could upgrade me to 60mb, but for the same price I am paying now for 30mb ie. £30, but would mean new 12 month contract. I was told only new customers who would also be signing a 12 month contract can pay £27.50? Don't want to be tied down to a new contract so will wait for nature to take it's cause and get the free upgrade. I may be being a bit stupid here, but the speed isn't as much of an issue, but is the fact that I as a loyal customer of many years would be signing into a new contract for more money than a newbie, where is the fairness in that? Not signing a new contract gives me breathing space to weigh up my options.

When i phoned them they said it would cost £12 extra a month to be upgraded now o.O no diea how they work this out considering new customers are getting it now, so i can either wait till january or pay £12 for an upgrade that will be free!

That does not sound right. I always use the "thinking of leaving us' option and speak to someone in the UK.

i spoke to a Scottish lady who said that was all that she could do unfortunately it was the upgrade department i spoke to, so maybe i should try a different department ? and have had VM installed for about 3 months now.

That'll probably be why then - you are likely on a short term offer such as a 6 month reduction.

To increase the speed now would remove the offer early.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed

Result! Had a phone call from Virgin they offered me a range of options, and I decided to go with Broadband L at £22.50 but without having to sign a new contract, happy bunny. Speed is not an issue 30mb is perfect for me as a single user.
