Help please

Hi all, we have TiVo and Internet with vm, upstairs there is another vm cable which used to run our old modem, could we take our TiVo box upstairs and run it off this now unused cable, I know the cable is still active? Cheers all.

Re: Help please

In a simple word, yes! Providing that cable point is still active then you should be fine. If you experience any picture break-up or loss of On Demand once you've moved it, it may just require a tech visit to adjust the signal levels but hopefully it will be ok for you.

Buying a box off eBay won’t work.

Don't do that, you'll be wasting your money. All equipment is the property of VM and if you cancel your services you should return your equipment to VM. Those people selling them on eBay are basically selling stolen goods.

Also, VM are very unlikely to activate any equipment that they haven't provided. If you want multi-room you'd be better changing your package and getting them to install you an extra box.

Re: Help please

The price will all depend on what package you are currently on. Generally speaking it will be around £49.95 install / activation fee plus £11.50 a month extra for a TiVo. However if you'd be happy with a standard V HD box check out something like the Premiere Collection (http://collections.virginmedia.com/).

It will have been activated previously but will be synched to another customers account. Therefore you would have to ring VM to synch it to your account and they will probably refuse as you've not obtained it directly from them.

To be clear. You can only connect equipment provided by Virgin Media to the Virgin Media cable.

Other equipment sold by various people as legitimate CANNOT be connected to the Virgin Media cable as you would be in breach of the Ts&Cs you have agreed with Virgin Media. Any use of such equipment to receive pay TV channels is illegal.
