Re: TiVo Update Coming! 13-24th August - Just got a message on my box

Apart from reminders I can't see what difference!

What I can't STAND is that TIVO (along with all VM boxes) are SO BLOODY SLOW!!!

They are state of the art so why are the so slow compared to Sky and Freeview boxes? & inbuilt freeview??

Would have been nice to see the boxes speeded up in this update!!!

The only other visual difference I have seen is the very subtle shading in the info banner for the tuners which is only a very minor thing but good

The years back on films in my shows is good.
The default recording options though limited is still an improvement.
It also is a little bit quicker.
And watching something from on demand is much quicker skipping all those nonsense steps.

It's terrible. If it makes the wrong prediction, you've got to key away from what it is suggesting and then key back for their suggestion to disappear and the original letters to return.

For me personally it's not speeding up a thing. It's taking me longer to correct typo's and to maneouver away and back from their wrong predictions.

There is so many ways they could have improved the YouTube search facility, this surely wasn't the best of the ideas they came up with?

I think there are a few additional options on the My Shows menu, but I could be wrong...

Use the TiVo search instead, then select "YouTube Results" from the bottom of the list.

I'm quite getting into TiVo, and have to agree with Carl it does save a lot of time; provided you have the box running as you want to.

l agree because now we have two TiVo's in our household and l would never go back to to Virgin's older boxes as comparing the two now is like comparing Premier league football to Non league football.

Well Adobe Flash doesn't exactly have a reputation for being quick, and it is unlikely to improve now Adobe have dropped Linux support (which the Tivo OS is based on). Unless Tivo can take advantage on the work Google will be doing with Flash in Chrome on Linux.

Just to point out, it was what Google came up with. It's the same on www.youtube.com/leanback

Re: TiVo Update Coming! 13-24th August - Just got a message on my box

TiVo just changed the channel automatically again from Rain Man on ITV3 to Family Guy on BBC3. It was due to start recording American Dad on BBC3 at 23.15 but changed the channel a couple of minutes before that. There are only two recordings taking place including the American Dad one, the other one is a Suggestion Recording.

That's twice it's just switched the channel on me with no warning. I never noticed it do that before the update.

You sound like you;re "in the know" mate.

So what are freeview and Sky's OS based on?
