Re: The London 2012 Olympics: Current affairs discussion
Does anyone know how you get a ticket to go up the orbit in the Olympic park? I have a ticket for athletics next wednesday, but have been told you need to buy a seperate ticket to go up the orbit. They are sold out on the LOCOG website, i don't understand how that is possible? Surely everyone in the Olympic park on each day would be able to go up it?

Nah. It's can't cope with that many people. The Olympic Park is quite big, I imagine it can accommodate a very sizeable amount of people. There is no way the orbit could cope if they didn't place limits. I went up at the Weekend and it was quite full then so anymore would mean you'ld never get a good view and the queues to get on the lift would be unbearable.

Fair enough, i was just really suprised it is completely sold out for every day. I didn't think it would be that popular seeing that you have to book in advance. I will keep checking but it looks unlikely then, oh well.

You're missing too much to be fair. It's probably disappointing for you that there is an aspect of your trip that is uncompleted but it's nothing amazing. View over the East of London, seeing the taller buildings across London, but not that cool really.
There are places in London where you get a better view. One New Change near St Pauls for example and that's free.

I suppose it's better in here than in the Sports discussion: but just how camp is Ian Thorpe? My Gaydar is off the Scale.

Re: The London 2012 Olympics: Current affairs discussion
Has anyone got a book going as to where the UK Olympic team will finish in the medal tables? (I'd like a fiver on not doing too well)
Pretty dismal showing so far. Sitting 21st out of 34 medal winning countries with 2 S & 2 B
Generally host nation teams do better but it seems so far that team GB are doing their usual
Do we as a nation believe that we are better than we actually are & "big ourselves up" or can we actually do well?
Personally I cant see us doing better than 19th overall

An old work college has them to, and it looks like GB could be there

And how were we doing less than a week in 4 years ago?
Here's the medal table from 2008. As you can see, 12 of our medals were in the track cycling; which only starts today, IIRC.

Not a flying start, Our are expectations too high?
I think everybody was expecting a Gold from Cavendish and a Gold from Daly. but as far as I can tell they're the only ones that have failed to deliver so far.
Early days yet still.
