My satnav stopped working near Bristol a few years back, I don't know why.

Military GPS has anti jamming tech.

I think so, for this and for "services to British film".

Hell, if Gary Barlow can have an OBE I think Danny Boyle should have a Kighthood!

"So Blofeld, you are going to use this GPS jamming technology to bring London to a grinding standstill?"
"No Mr. Bond, I'm going to prevent BBC viewers from seeing the road race timings! **evil laugh**"

blame game according to OBs its locog fault that it was there responsibilty for GPS timing.

That they was not providing the information to comentators.

Just hope whoever it was OBS or locog they get there act together get these GPS sorted.

Now as side note GPS was also faulty in tour de france timings often jumped and spiked. Althogh in past years there acuracy was bit iffy they become more more reliable as technology advanced.

Wonder if there GPS jamming going off as sabatage.
Take a deep breath.

It's not the end of the world..Why not accept that not everything in life goes the way you want it to and sometimes that's the way things are..otherwise you will have a stroke with the continual stress. You are certainly stressing me out and I couldn't care less about the road cycling because I find it boring as a spectator sport.I'd rather watch the velodrome efforts..

What a load of rubbish. Just because you don't like to watch it it's not a big deal? It was a major issue, and something that needs addressing ahead of tomorrow's ladies' road race. It's not acceptable.

Re: The London 2012 Olympics: Current affairs discussion

Surprised the NHS section seems to have been the most controversial aspect of the ceremony. Really? I think some have underestimated the degree to which the NHS is still widely respected amongst the population. It has problems of courses but understandable and justified criticism of the NHS shouldn't be confused with a dislike of the NHS itself.

If you'd read this thread, in particular the quoted text in post #64, you'd have known that the BBC were quite aware it wasn't good enough.

Or you could have a read here or here

Quote:
London 2012 Olympics: BBC complain over Cycling road race statistics from the Olympic Broadcasting Service
The Olympic Broadcasting Service came under severe criticism on Saturday night after a lack of timing graphics – notably the time gap between the leaders and the chasing peloton – came close to spoiling one of the most exciting finales in recent Olympic road racing history.
Quote:
Fury at BBC fiasco during men's road race with commentary team left in the dark

BBC bosses were caught up in a row with Olympic Broadcast Services, who provide the feed for their television pictures and event information, following the shambolic coverage of Great Britain’s failed attempt to win gold in the men’s cycle road race.

Are the national press just a bunch of moaners for being interested in something you don't like to watch as well?

Re: The London 2012 Olympics: Current affairs discussion

I can't believe how touchy some countries are being. First the Koreans about the flag mix-up. Now the Indians are demanding an apology. Some people really need to calm down.

The Jammers wouldn't be affected by the GPS transmissions being encoded. They just flood a range of frequencies with interference.

The Korean thing I can actually understand then being annoyed about, but this latest Indian thing (at least, the "time on screen" bit) is a load of nonsense. I can understand their problem with the unknown lady though.

So the North Koreans have no right to be upset about the flag of their arch enemy being shown? The Indians should be happy to have their party gate crashed? Presumably, the Irish should be content when the Union Flag is flown next to their name as well?

Don't you think it a tad unnerving that an apparent total stranger can latch onto a team with such ease ,especially considering all the problems with security ?
