Not sick so much as annoyed we don't have the channel

Or aware that for a few months it was the one sky channel that was advertised more than any other?

That would be back when it launched, right? So SOP then.

I wouldn't say the channel is crap but last night was the first thing I actually have ever really wanted to see that was only shown on there.
Alan Partridge.

Don't fret, it's airing on Sky1 HD this Friday at 10pm. You'll be able to see for yourself if it meaures up to be as good it was on the BBC.

I personally prefer US shows, not the pretentious rubbish offered by some home grown channels. Having said that I also like "pulp" fiction in general & hate Eastenders ( Class drama if ever I saw it NOT. but good luck to those who enjoy it- just sorry part of my license fee pays for it )
Before you ask UK drama I like at the moment
Silk, Lewis. & for light relief Midsummer murders & Stella . Other than these can not think of a single UK show I watch ( Starlings is the only other recorded - I hate it )

I noticed this earlier in the week.. probably would have recorded it had Sky 1 shown it, now just noticed that Sky 1 did show it. Oh well.
Yes it would be nice to have had the choice, but I refuse to pander to Sky's silly games - I'd rather go without than let them have the satisfaction. If this is the first time this has meant "going without" since Sky Atlantic launched, then it's probably not worth getting stressed about... it'll appear again sometime I'm sure

What silly games are they ?
God forbid a business what actually tries to get a return on something it's invested millions into. None of us on here actually know the ins and outs of the discussions to carry the channel so it's all merely speculation on both sides.

Isn't this on Sky Anytime? They usually put their own shows onto VOD.

Nope, not showing on Sky Anytime, not that I can see anyway. Tried that before posting originally. DigiGuide isn't picking up any repeat showings either.. oh well.
Has any Sky Atlantic show made top-50 digital-only recently?

Well it won't, will it, because Sky have chosen to restrict access to its chosen few. That doesn't alone reflect on the quality of its programming.
It really is about time that Sky recognised that its customers included those subscribing to its channels via Virgin Media, and pricing them out of the equation is no way to treat your customers.

Re: At last Sky Atlantic concrete news [Not] coming to Virginmedia [Anytime Soon]
I think the first Alan Partridge on Sky 1 was a bit of a teaser, Mrs M seems to think this has happened before when the first episode of a series was broadcast on Sky 3 when that was on freeview but the series continued on Sky 1. I can't remember that myself but the second Partridge is due on Atlantic this week and I can't find it on anywhere else, so I guess it's a tried and tested tactic. Shame, it's the first thing I would have liked to have seen on that channel since I'm a big fan of KMKY etc. Hopefully it'll be available on dvd at some point.

Except that (as has been proven already) Sky only care about their own customers. Yes, I know, they're a business so they should do. But my point is that SA has a small amount of viewers right now. Just imagine how many more viewers it would get (and therefore advertising revenue because more viewers = charge more money) if they let VM have it at a decent price.

It has, very recently. They're always doing it.

Re: At last Sky Atlantic concrete news [Not] coming to Virginmedia [Anytime Soon]
It's a USP for the Sky platform weres the big issue with that ? As I recall TIVO is exclusive to VM in the UK and one of their USP's.

Wasn't a complaint, was an observation.

Cancel everything I've just said-have just watched Welcome to the Places of My Life. Quite content that I won't be able to see the rest of the new stuff. Disappointed.
