RBS (Natwest, Ulster Bank) IT issues
This is really getting beyond a joke. No transactions on my account for over a week. My salary which was due to be in on the 22nd I'm now told it will be lucky to be in before the 2nd July.
Interesting though they have a major IT disaster months after outsourcing their IT. Are we going to see more of these issues in the future as corporations see IT as an overheard that can be cut?
Moving forward, can anyone recommend a good current account?

I'm surprised that we haven't already had a discussion on this.
I'm with NatWest, but luckily haven't had any issues (yet?) as I don't get paid until the end of this week.

I am glad i changed from Natwest to Lloyds but i always thought all banks were the same just with a different brand name but all the IT stuff was the same if that makes sense lol.
So if one bank crashed then all of them would.

Apparently rbs changed there routers with superhubs as part of the double speed upgrade, they've got some systems back up by choosing 145 wifi speed but hopefully it will be fixed with the new beta firmware. Personally I think they should just stick the in modem mode....

I'm with HSBC and I'm due to be paid on Friday, I think the firm is with Halifax, isn't that apart of RBS?

No halifax is part of Lloyds
Lloyds murged with HBOS (which itself was a murger of Halifax and Bank Of Scotland)
RBS (Royal bank of scotland) brought Natwest

PayPal is still able to move money in and out of my NatWest account, the transactions are just not showing up in my on-line bank statements.

Re: RBS (Natwest, Ulster Bank) IT issues
Supposedly 90% of the affected accounts are now working but the test will come on payday at the end of this week especially for those who are paid at the end of the month.
At least they will not be charging you for any missed direct debits or other payments that leave your account, this is for all account owners with the affected banks as any charge will be reversed due to their error.

Re: RBS (Natwest, Ulster Bank) IT issues
According to the Register see here the problem was caused by human error. An inexperienced technician deleted all the batch processing queues in error so the have had to all be put back in.

I love the way that they are now trying to blame an inexperienced operative who probably does not even exist more likely smoke and mirrors to put the blame elsewhere.
