Re: R36 Firmware Beta Test (was R35)

Should have signed up for the beta... Oh well, I do have some questions for those that are using.

  1. How fast is it over 2.4ghz @ 300mbps? I am looking for two more people to post a result, as I see Srius has already posted his.
  2. Does it lock up @ 300mbps?
  3. How is the lag in gaming for PS3 and Xbox?
  4. Has jitter REALLY been fixed?
  5. Any ETA on final if there are no bugs found?

Re: R36 Firmware Beta Test (was R35)

1. people are posting good results with OBSS disabled

2. there are reboots being reported but no cause yet found, it doesnt "lock up" just reboots itself

3. xbox issues fixed, possible new ps3 bug though, not too sure yet

4. the buffering issue is fixed, jitter in general still exists, VM have no control over the english dictionary, jitter will always exist

5. there are lots of bugs to be rectified, id say another month or 2 realistically, unless VM go and release it while its still buggy

Again.
Once it's released don't expect another firmware for a while unless there is a real showstopper in it which they can't ignore.

with a cap of course so people can't kill a connection. and then the hotspot band itself is up to the owner of the SH. ????
Good idea, especially if they go in with FON, like BT did. Then I could get rid of my crappy Fonera SIMPL router.

theres no "show stoppers" and from the way mark wilkin posts in the beta forum responding to bug reports it would seem they are looking for major show stoppers to stop them releasing this one asap and I suspect as with last firmwares there maybe a "fix" that doesnt get beta tested and pushed straight out

Ive made it quite clear on the beta forum that the release needs to be 100% stable at the very least not to tarnish VMs reputation any more

That's a first then - when I participated in the first beta testing round there was absolutely no feedback at all from VM on anything.

Re: R36 Firmware Beta Test (was R35)

The update hasn't made that much difference to me, and the only noticeable issue I have is a 'stall' when, in router mode, I click links. Sometimes I can get a delay of up to 5 seconds before anything happens. This does not occur in modem mode (which I am back to using as it soon gets irritating).

Minimum pings are 10ms less in router mode, but otherwise no real difference.

Make sure you report that in the Virgin beta forums. I don't want a firmware that fails to work on clickable links.

I did, and somebody else also replied with the same issue. I've not seen any other mentions of it though, so perhaps there is something particular to my/our setup that is causing this.

Are you running the default DNS or alternative via windows adapter properties?

i also get this, but ive not got access to the beta forum, ive just got a email from mark wilkin saying this

We've been attempting to upgrade your Super Hub to the R36 beta firmware over the past few days, but so far we've been unable to do this for some unknown reason

but i got the update right after 12am Monday night, so not sure what's going on

is this why ive not been given access to the beta forum

After the early positive change to my TBB monitor it's gone back to pretty much how it was before getting the new firmware.
